Predicted by many to finish last in the LCS Spring Split, FlyQuest has been the biggest surprise to start the season. Thanks to utilizing the top/smite strategy, they entered Day 1 of Week 3, 3-1. Standing in their way was Dignitas, another 3-1 team who was defying expectations.
Dignitas focused their draft on champions with movement speed, selecting Zeri, Yumi, Udyr, and Oriana to go with Graves in the top line. FlyQuest decided against using another enchanter in the top lane and focused on a poke comp, selecting Senna and Corki.
Jungle Difference
From the beginning, FlyQuest attempted to make their presence felt, taking the first Dragon. The game started off slow until the eight-minute mark when Fly’s Jungler Josedeodo attempted to gank Dignitas Top Laner FakeGod. Unfortunately, Fly’s Top Laner Kumo missed his Irelia ultimate and Dignitas was able to counter gank, killing Josedeodo for first blood.
Despite the setback, Josedeodo remained calm and at the 14:30 mark was able to dive Dignitas’s Mid Laner under his tower for an easy kill.

The game continued with FlyQuest holding a 2-1 lead in Dragons when Dignitas’s Oriana started pushing in the top lane. She was able to get both the tier two and tier three towers, but at the expense of the rest of her team.
Smelling blood in the water, FlyQuest engaged Dignitas on a 5v4, with Josedeodo and Support Aphramoo taking over the fight. Both teams traded one for one when FlyQuest started to retreat. Out of sight, Aphramoo who was playing Tham Kench landed his Aybssal Dive, disorientating Dignitas. Josedeodo immediately dashed in for clean-up, claiming two more kills. ADC Johnsun was able to pick off the fourth member for the wipe.

Despite the extra gold in their pockets, FlyQuest was stagnant for the next 10 minutes, but just after 28 minutes, they were able to secure their third Dragon and baited Dignitas over to the pit.
They collapsed on their opponents, trading 2-0, which led to an easy Baron. From there, FlyQuest was able to snowball the game. With their backs against the wall, Dignitas attempted to sneak Baron at the 35-minute mark. FlyQuest who was waiting in the shadows sniffed this out and Josedeodo kicked the enemy Udyr into his team. Udyr was quickly executed and FlyQuest was able to secure their second Baron of the game.
Two minutes later, Dignitas attempted to make a last stand, but FlyQuest had too large of a gold lead. They traded 3-1 in the final fight and closed out the game.
What’s Next?
Thanks to 100% kill participation, Josedeodo was named Player of the Game, which should excite FlyQuest fans. Signed by FlyQuest to start the 2021 season, Josedeodo had a disappointing debut. This year he’s looked like a completely different player and has been instrumental in the team’s early success.
The win wasn’t entirely clean, with Mid Laner Toucouille having some questionable Corki package attempts. Yet, the team was able to play to their strengths and were able to put Dignitas away. From here their schedule only gets tougher, with reigning Summer LCS Champions 100 Thieves up next.
