Like the other big Riot Games franchises, VALORANT is consistently coming out with patches. The reason for this is to keep the game as balanced as it can be along with adding more content to keep the fans engaged. While VALORANT is not on as consistent of a schedule as League of Legends or Teamfight Tactics, it is still patching regularly. Here is the latest patch, the VALORANT 4.02 Patch Notes.

This was a smaller patch but it brought some needed changes.
PERFORMANCE UPDATES
- Improved latency for Windowed Fullscreen mode to match closer to Fullscreen Exclusive ○ These improvements should play well with in-game overlays, however, having another program’s window on top of your gameplay window will negate these benefits.
SOCIAL UPDATES
- AFK detection buff
○ Updated detections for non-participatory behavior in-game
- Agent-select reporting
○ Looks like there’s been some confusion around Agent-select reporting. Remember, you can right-click players in pre-game and report them if they’re being disruptive!
BUGS
Cosmetics
- Fixed a bug where the pulsing FX around the Spectrum Z logo were appearing next to the trigger during second inspect animation on the Bulldog.
Agents
- Fixed issue where Killjoy’s Alarmbot and Turret were unretrievable after being resurrected by Sage.
KNOWN ISSUES
Esports Features
● Projectile Follow currently bugs out for Observer Followers
The biggest changes in this patch are probably the social changes. AFK players are a major problem in nearly every game but in one like VALORANT where being a player down is such a disadvantage, the AFK detection being buffed should help a lot. The second part is being able to report during agent select. This was initially instituted in League of Legends and it has seen some success. For players who hold a lobby hostage or who pick other players characters just to troll them, getting reported has never been easier.
In a competitive game like VALORANT, these quality of life changes will not seem like a big deal in the short term. That said, with time players will likely notice them and start to see less toxicity, or at least, that is the hope.
