What is the 2022 LCS Start Date?

For many in the LCS community 2022 brings with it more than a new season, it brings about a fresh start for their teams as they attempt to perform internationally. Most of the teams completely rehauled their teams from their 2021 rosters and are either looking to start anew or built their roster to compete for an LCS title and Worlds contention. That said, fans are likely wondering, what is the 2022 LCS Start Date?

LEC 2022 Start Date

The LCS changed its format again in 2022. This year’s games in the Spring will not contribute towards an LCS playoff to decide who wins an LCS Championship. That said it will still count towards who goes to MSI. This essentially allows for teams to use the Spring as almost a testing period for the Summer which some people are supporting but many are expressing their frustrations that yet again Spring won’t matter.

To top it all off there is another Lock-In Tournament to start the season where teams will compete for a prize. The teams will also be going back to playing only 18 games a split or two a week from the three previously. this was another controversial aspect that many players specifically did not like. There will be a few Super Weeks like what is done in the LEC in order to make sure they can get all 18 games finished in time.

The Lock-In Tournament will begin on January 14. This will be the beginning of the season technically but the 2022 LCS Start Date will be on February 5.
