The 2021-22 NFL season has already been extremely entertaining. It has shown fantasy trends that have started to develop and show what could happen the rest of the season. Already some players have proven to be fantasy relevant while some fantasy stars have been alarmingly disappointing to this point. Injuries have started to mount up this season. It is always a great idea to evaluate backup options so that way fantasy managers are prepared if star players miss time. Here are the Week 5 fantasy football quarterback rankings.
*Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to reserve/COVID-19 list*
(Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week)
Key:
Must Start- a player who should definitely be in your lineup that week because of the combination of matchup and talent. They will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and could repeat the production most weeks.
Starter- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.
Low-End Starter- a player who should be started in most lineups but can possibly bottom out and finish below average on a given week. A high ceiling play in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Streamer- a player who could be a perfect replacement for a starter for a week or two. Starting this player may not win you your lineup but they will make sure that your production out of that position will not lose you your matchup either. Also a viable option in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Deep League Streamer- a player who could fill a void at a position in a deeper league. Their ceiling may be close to average point production at the position but their floor is enough to get through the week. A reasonable player to have in your lineup in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Possible Changes that can occur before Sunday
QB10 Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans
Last week Ryan Tannehill was without both of his top wide receivers A.J. Brown and Julio Jones. A.J. Brown was limited in practice Wednesday while Julio Jones was not. If Tannehill is without one of his two receivers he drops to QB11 between Kirk Cousins and Justin Herbert. While if he is without both of his top receivers for another week he drops all the way to QB14 between Daniel Jones and Derek Carr.
QB24 Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers
Jimmy Garoppolo sat out the second half against the Seattle Seahawks last week because of a calf injury. He did not practice Wednesday, however, he was not ruled out for the week. If Garoppolo misses this week Trey Lance will start and move up to QB20 between Jared Goff and Taylor Heinicke.
QB29 Teddy Bridgewater, Denver Broncos
Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was knocked out of last week’s game with a concussion. He is currently in concussion protocol and could miss the game this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. If Bridgewater is out this week Drew Lock would be the QB31 for the week between Ben Roethlisberger and Davis Mills.
QB28 Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns
News came out Thursday that Baker Mayfield is dealing with a torn labrum. It sounds like Mayfield is going to try to play through this injury. However if it were to worsen and he was to sit this week Case Keenum would be the QB30 between Carson Wentz and Ben Roethlisberger.
QB31 Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers
Ben Roethlisberger missed practice Wednesday with hip and pectoral injuries. If he misses this week’s game against the Broncos Mason Rudolph would get the start. Rudolph would take Roethlisberger’s slot at QB31.
