Size: 6-foot-3, 344 pounds

Class: Redshirt Senior

2020 stats: Second Team All-SEC

Brown was a big and powerful offensive lineman for Alabama over a few seasons. He is now heading to the next level.

As one of the best guards in the country out of high school, Brown decided to go to Alabama to play for Nick Saban. After redshirting his first year on campus, Brown played as a reserve lineman in 2017. Halfway through the 2018 season, he took over as the starting left guard. He helped Alabama go 14-1, but they lost in the National Championship Game to Clemson. Brown missed the first four games of the 2019 season, but started the rest of the way en route to an 11-win season for the Crimson Tide that culminated with a win in the Citrus Bowl. Although he could have declared for the pros, he decided to come back for the 2020 season. His play earned him Second Team All-SEC honors and a National Championship for Alabama.

Following a solid college career, Brown is now a decent prospect in the 2021 class. He is projected to be a mid-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Strengths

Brown is a massive offensive lineman. At 6-foot-3 and 344 pounds, he has solid height and will have more weight than most interior linemen. While his arms aren’t the longest, his body allows him to generate power and have a good anchor.

To go with his size, Brown has good power. He can move defenders completely out of the way in the running game. There won’t be many defensive tackles who can handle his play strength. In the passing game, he has a strong anchor and can hold his spot.

He is technically sound for an interior lineman as well. Brown has nice footwork, which really helps him in the running game. He also has strong hands, which he uses well. Although he doesn’t move the best, his pass sets are solid.

Weaknesses

Brown doesn’t have good length and also has smaller hands. The length will give him troubles, but interior linemen should also have bigger hands. Because of his short arms and small hands, Brown will need to make sure he continues to play with good technique to maximize his effectiveness.

He does lose his balance at times, which might be a result of his lack of length. Brown tries to make up for it by lunging at defenders. While he still played solidly in college, more athletic defensive linemen in the NFL will end up beating him if he continues to lunge in that way. He needs to stay patient and trust his technique.

While his size is good, Brown isn’t a great mover. He is great in a phone booth, but when asked to move there can be problems. His ability to pull, get to the second level and even match up in pass pro with more athletic defensive linemen will be put to the test at the next level.
