The 2021 NBA season is under way, which means the 2021 NBA Draft won’t be too far behind. Here is the 2021 NBA Mock Draft February 9.
Draft order from nbadraftnet.com
1. Detroit Pistons- Jalen Suggs, PG, Gonzaga
The Pistons have shed most of their talent over the last few years and need a lead guard for the future.
2. Washington Wizards- Evan Mobley, C, USC
With Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook, the Wizards won’t need more good guard play, but they could benefit from drafting a big.
3. Minnesota Timberwolves- Cade Cunningham, G/F, Oklahoma State
The Timberwolves just can’t seem to get things right. Whether they decide to rebuild or move forward, Cade Cunningham is a solid pick.
4. Houston Rockets- Jonathan Kuminga, F, G-League
Houston will have to figure out their future plans, but until they make progress, they need to take the best player available.
5. New Orleans Pelicans- Jalen Green, G, G-League
The Pelicans did not start the season off well and could be in the market for more picks. Getting help around Zion Williamson for the long-term needs to be the goal.
6. New York Knicks- Jalen Johnson, F, Duke
New York thought they would be getting an instant contributer in Obi Toppin, but the rookie that has impressed has been point guard Immanuel Quickley. Johnson can be another forward for the team to utilize.
7. Orlando Magic- Ziaire Williams, G/F, Stanford
After taking Cole Anthony last year, the Magic could take a Williams who is a solid wing.
8. Toronto Raptors- Scottie Barnes, F, Florida State
Barnes can fit a role in the NBA immediately, as he has great length to be a good defender.
9. New York Knicks- Moses Moody, G, Arkansas
The Knicks could have a good scoring backcourt with the pick of Moody.
10. Chicago Bulls- Corey Kispert, F, Gonzaga
Kispert will stretch the floor as a good shooter right away in the NBA.
11. Oklahoma City Thunder- Keon Johnson, G, Tennessee
Sam Presti loves to draft athletes and to develop them and Johnson fits this bill.
12. Sacramento Kings- Kai Jones, F/C, Texas
After getting another impact guard in Tyrese Haliburton, the Kings can focus on the frontcourt.
13. San Antonio Spurs- Sharife Cooper, PG, Auburn
Cooper’s passing ability is second to none and the Spurs have always thrived on good ball movement.
14. Houston Rockets- Greg Brown, F, Texas
The Rockets can get some frontcourt depth for now, although this pick may change if Victor Oladipo is shipped out of Houston.
15. Charlotte Hornets- Franz Wagner, F, Michigan
LaMelo Ball is looking good. Surrounding him with players who can score will be imperative for the Hornets.
16. Cleveland Cavaliers- Charles Bassey, C, Western Kentucky
Having Collin Sexton and Darius Garland in the backcourt looks like it will pay off for the Cavs, but they need to get younger in the frontcourt.
17. Atlanta Hawks- Jaden Springer, G, Tennessee
Springer can provide good backcourt depth and is a very versatile player.
18. Houston Rockets- Usman Garuba, C, SpainÂ
Garuba is a potential draft and stash, who could eventually take over for DeMarcus Cousins.
19. Golden State Warriors- Jared Butler, PG, Baylor
Steph Curry isn’t going anywhere, but Butler can provide great depth after being Baylor’s leader over the last few years.
20. Indiana Pacers- James Bouknight, G, UConn
Bouknight can get to the basket and score, making him valuable, even if he has been battling injuries.
21. Boston Celtics- Josh Christopher, G, Arizona State
The Celtics found Payton Pritchard in the 2020 NBA Draft, but could always use more backcourt depth.
22. Phoenix Suns- Roko Prkacin, F, Croatia
Phoenix has a good backcourt now with Chris Paul and Devin Booker. Now they just need to keep adding players to the frontcourt.
23. Brooklyn Nets- Cameron Thomas, G, LSU
With the Nets having a “big 3” they’ll need to get some guys like Thomas who can score off the bench.
24. Memphis Grizzlies- Davion Mitchell, G, Baylor
Mitchell has started to flash how well he can score the ball, which will make him valuable at the end of the first round.
25. Denver Nuggets- Josh Giddey, PG, Australia
Giddey is a solid playmaker, who can fit a role off the bench for teams.
26. Milwaukee Bucks- Ayo Dosunmu, PG, Illinois
Dosunmu can score and set up his teammates well, which will make him a great role player to start his career.
27. Philadelphia 76ers- Brandon Boston, G/F, Kentucky
Boston has had a rough year at Kentucky, but he was a projected lottery pick before the season. The 76ers could draft him and try to tap into his potential.
28. Los Angeles Lakers- Ochai Agbaji, G/F, Kansas
The Lakers will need to keep spreading the floor for LeBron James and Anthony Davis to keep up their winning ways.
29. Utah Jazz- Marcus Bagley, F, Arizona State
Bagley may not be as highly-rated as his brother Marvin, but he can shoot better than him.
30. Los Angeles Clippers- Terrence Shannon, G, Texas Tech
Shannon has improved his offense and defense this year by a lot, which may help him be a first round pick.
