As a part of the 2021 Opening Day livestream, Riot Game announced its plans for Legends of Runeterra in the upcoming year. The Legends of Runeterra team has plenty instore for its players, including new champions and a brand new region.
Riot plans on keeping the general flow of updates and content additions to the game. Players can grab a hold of Aphelios starting in February. As a champion of Targon, Aphelios will utilize his Lunari weapon to create cards that can handle any situation. Much like his character in League of Legends, Ahpelios will be all about planning for the now and the future. Look to find some exciting new gameplay with one of the most intricate characters on the rift.

The most exciting announcement for the start of the first half of the year is the addition of Shurima as a playable region. The desert world of Shurima is filled with treasure and splendor, and players will have access to the rich and deep history of the region. With plenty of champions hailing from Shurima, players can certainly expect champions like Azir, Nasus, and Renekton to join Legends of Runeterra.
The roadmap also lays out the plans for new Labs and ranked play changes that are expected to be added through the year. An interesting addition down the line is new champion skins for players favorite cards. Along with prismatics, players now can have all the options to personalize their decks. 2021 has plenty in store for fans of Legend of Runeterra.
