1. Landon Young, OT, Kentucky Wildcats
The Wildcats were right there with Auburn for most of the game, but the Tigers pulled away in the fourth quarter. Although they lost the game 29-13, Kentucky controlled the ball and moved it decently well and a lot of that is thanks to their offensive line.
Auburn was without one of their stars, Big Kat Bryant, but the offensive line, including Young played well. He isn’t the most athletic tackle, but he showed good fight and toughness in both the run game and when pass blocking. His stock likely isn’t going up from the performance, but it definitely could go up if he strings a few performances like this together.
2. Desmond Ridder, QB, Cincinnati Bearcats
Cincinnati got a big win over Army this weekend 24-10. The defense was impressive at stopping Army’s triple option attack, while the offense did just enough to win the game. They’ll have to work on some things if they want to win the AAC though.
Ridder did not look sharp in this game. He went 18/33 for 258 yards and two touchdowns. He was sacked a lot, as he had seven rushes for 14 yards. Ridder has dual-threat abilities and solid arm talent, but he needs to work on his decision-making and accuracy if he wants to improve his stock.
3. Paris Ford, S, Pittsburgh Panthers
Pitt picked up their third win of the season. Their defense deserves a lot of credit, as they have talent all over the field. The 24-20 win over Louisville was a showcase for their defenders and they should be able to do some damage moving forward in the ACC.
Ford played well for Pittsburgh, as he helped limit Louisville to 223 total yards. The Cardinals only had 107 passing yards in the game. Ford led the team with six total tackles. Although he didn’t get an interception like in previous weeks, Ford is playing well this season.
4. Hamsah Nasirildeen, S, Florida State Seminoles
Florida State had another rough game, as they were blown out by their rivals. Miami put up a lot of points on the Seminoles. It looks like Florida State has a lot of good individual players on their team, but they haven’t put it together as a team.
All signs pointed to Nasirildeen making his season debut after his torn ACL last season, but he didn’t play. He could be a huge difference-maker for this defense, but if he isn’t healthy he shouldn’t play.
5. Nick Bolton, LB, Missouri Tigers
No one expected Missouri to beat Alabama. The Crimson Tide won easily on the road, as they had too many offensive weapons for Missouri to keep up with. Missouri still had a few players who played well, including Nick Bolton.
Bolton finished the game with eight tackles. He had a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery. Bolton doesn’t have the team around him to win a lot of games this year, but Bolton has stood out already. He is another player who will have several big games to show how good of a player he is.
