PITTSBURGH Pa. – Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh Steeler head coach, told media outlets he is not confident that the 2020 NFL regular season will finish.
With each state’s different rules about sporting events and public gatherings, people wonder if the NFL will have a season this year. Football, in general, has been a topic of debate for sports fans as the season-opening week, creeping closer and closer, day by day.
Head coach for the Pittsburgh, Mike Tomlin, gave his opinion of the NFL season, and his words are concerning to Steeler fans.
“I don’t know that I’m extremely confident,” Tomlin said on the NFL Network when asked about the season finishing. “I think we’re all proceeding with caution and working extremely hard not to become part of that.”
While The Steelers, hold their promise to fans about games at Heinz Feild, Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Wolf, held a press conference on August 6, which shows a bleak future for Steeler home games.
Gov. Wolf: “no sports until January 1, 2021”
As of August 6, Governor Wolf held a press conference addressing the topic of high school sports, and if fans are to attend.
“Anything that brings people together is going to help that virus get us and we have to do everything we can to defeat it, “stated Wolf during the conference.
He also added that the regulations about youth sports were only recommendations and not mandates or orders.
Wolf recommendations did not sit well with youth sports parents. One Twitter reply comment read “See that’s why I love this country! We don’t have to agree. However, when Wolf takes the decision away from us that’s a problem. I want my child to play and go back to school. I know the risk. Let’s play ball”
Wolf did not comment if his recommendations also applied to professional sports.
There has been no change in the Steelers promise to hold games at Heinz Field or letting fans attend the games at the limited capacity.
The Steeler’s first game will be at MetLife Stadium against the New York Giants on September 14, at 4:15 pm EST.
