The Poinsettia Bowl pits the Wyoming Cowboys versus the BYU cougars. There are a few draft prospects in this game, but Taysom Hill, the BYU quarterback, will be out with an injury. Without Hill, here are the best draft prospects in this game:
BYU Cougars
Jamaal Williams, RB
Projected Draft Range: Sixth Round-Undrafted Free Agent
Williams is a big running back at six feet two inches tall and 220 pounds. He runs hard, but doesn’t have good speed or quickness. A good quality for Williams though, is his strength. When he runs in between the tackles he can pick up yardage after contact. He has the unique ability to catch the ball out of the backfield for a bigger running back, as he had over 300 yards receiving in his freshman season. One issue for him will be explaining why he quit football. He missed the 2015 season for personal issues. This will be something that is asked about at the combine by NFL teams.
Wyoming Cowboys
Brian Hill, RB
Projected Draft Range: Seventh Round-Undrafted Free Agent
There will be two similar running backs in this bowl game, as Hill is a lot like Williams. At six feet one inch tall and 219 pounds Hill is a powerful runner. He has the fourth most rushing yards in college football with 1,767. Hill uses his vision to set up runs and his power to finish runs hard. As with Williams, draft scouts will be wondering about his speed. If he can demonstrate that speed, Hill’s value will rise. Because he is going against a good run defense, Hill will have a great chance to showcase his talents in this game.
Jacob Hollister, TE
Projected Draft Range: Seventh Round-Undrafted Free Agent
Hollister has produced this season with 500 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He has the potential to be a security blanket for a quarterback at the next level. NFL draft scouts will love his blocking ability, as he has helped Hill be so successful in his career. Hollister is listed at six feet four inches tall and will need to measure at that size at the NFL Combine to be at the bottom end of prototypical NFL tight end height.
