At the conclusion of the Watchpoint: Postshow immediately following Week 4’s matches, the four heroes that will be banned or disabled in Week 5 of the OWL were announced. These five heroes were chosen from a selection of heroes receiving over 10% of playtime in the OWL. While a couple of them had received much more than that, a couple of others hadn’t seen much more than 10% playtime thus far.

Week 5 Banned Heroes
DPS: McCree & Widowmaker
Tank: Reinhardt
Support: Moira
Of the four heroes banned for Week 5, both Reinhardt and McCree had received much more playtime through the previous two weeks at 87.2% and 59.5% respectively. However, Moira and Widowmaker just barely come in at over 10% each. While many fans will be upset that Mei or D.Va were not banned for Week 5, heroes cannot be banned for two consecutive weeks, so there is a good chance we’ll see those two heroes out of rotation in Week 6.
However, for Week 5, the following teams will be playing with the above-listed bans:
- Toronto Defiant
- Florida Mayhem
- Paris Eternal
- Houston Outlaws
- Boston Uprising
- Washington Justice
- Philadelphia Fusion
- NYXL
- Atlanta Reign
Also, as a reminder, these are not the same bans as the ones that will happen in Overwatch’s Competitive play. Those will be announced, presumably, when those go live with Season 21 on March 5. Stay tuned for more on hero pools for Overwatch, the OWL and much more here at The Game Haus.
