The NFL’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.

The NFL will have one game per season in Mexico City in 2020 and 2021. As mentioned above, Estadio Azteca, home of Mexico’s national soccer team, will play host. By the time the 2020 game is hosted, the stadium will be 54 years old. It is 7,200 feet above sea level, which is 1,920 feet higher than Mile High Stadium in Denver.
During the 2018 season, the planned Mexico City game was cancelled due to poor field conditions. The game between the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs was rescheduled last minute, and hosted at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles. The game ended with a score of 54-51, the highest scoring game in the history of Monday Night Football.
2019’s matchup south of the border also had turf problems, even though the game went ahead as scheduled. The players even had comments about how bad the turf held up.
Regardless, the games will continue for at least two more years, in order to grow the NFL’s global brand.
