The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. The bowl season schedule allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2019 Redbox Bowl.
California Golden Bears Draft Prospects
Ashtyn Davis, S
Davis has made an impact for four seasons at Cal and is now considered one of the best safeties in college football. In his career, he has 166 total tackles, seven interceptions and 12 passes defended. This year, Davis has 55 total tackles, two interceptions and four passes defended.
At 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, Davis has solid size for an NFL safety. Davis may not be a first-round pick, but he likely won’t have to wait very long after that to be drafted.
Projected Draft Range: Second round-fourth round
Evan Weaver, LB
Weaver has been all over the field making tackles for the Golden Bears over the last few seasons. He has 398 total tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks in his career. This season, he has 177 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
Weaver has good size at 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds. His draft range may be limited because he is not a three-down linebacker. A team will likely take a chance on him in the middle rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Projected Draft Range: Fourth round-sixth round
Other notable draft-eligible players:Â WR Kekoa Crawford, OT Jake Curhan, DT Zeande Johnson, DT Luc Bequette, Edge Tevin Paul, CB Traveon Beck, CB Camryn Bynum, S Jaylinn Hawkins
Illinois Fighting Illini Draft Prospects
Reggie Corbin, RB
Corbin has been a productive player on bad teams, but Illinois finally made a bowl game. In his career, he has 2,320 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. This season, Corbin hasn’t been his best with 634 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
He has solid size at 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds. Corbin is quick and should be a running back selected in the late rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Projected Draft Range: Sixth round-undrafted free agent
Kendrick Green, OG/C
Green is just a redshirt sophomore, but is already creating some NFL Draft buzz. He started his career as a defensive tackle and redshirted in 2017. In 2018, he started at left guard. This year, he continued starting at left guard and was a Pro Football Focus All-American honorable mention.
At 6-foot-4 and 310 pounds, Green has decent size for an NFL guard. Green will probably return to school, but if he doesn’t he could be drafted near the end of the draft.
Projected Draft Range: Sixth round-undrafted free agent
Other notable draft-eligible players:Â RB Mike Epstein, WR Josh Imatorbhebhe, OT Vederian Lowe, OT Alex Palczewski, DT Jamal Milan, DT Tymir Oliver, Edge Bobby Roundtree, LB Dele Harding, LB Oluwole Betiku, S Stanley Green
