Marshawn Lynch could be returning to the NFL for Seattle’s playoff push. The 33-year-old and head coach Pete Carroll had a meeting today that may result in his return to the field.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter explained the details of the report via Twitter on Monday afternoon.
Adding on to earlier NFL Network report, Marshawn Lynch is scheduled to meet today with Seahawks’ HC Pete Carroll and take a physical, per source.
“Both sides are optimistic he is back wearing 24”, per source. And that would mean Lynch and Seahawks vs. 49ers for NFC West title.

If Lynch passes his physical, he will be eligible to play in Seattle’s Week 17 finale for control of the NFC West. The winner of the 49ers-Seahawks matchup will win the division and may even lock up home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Lynch won Super Bowl 48 with Seattle, and played in Super Bowl 49. During his six years with the Seahawks, 6,347 rushing yards and 57 rushing touchdowns. He added 1,309 yards and eight more scores through the air.
He has not played a single down in the NFL in 2019, after retiring in 2018. He played in six games last year for Oakland, his hometown, collecting three touchdowns and just under 350 rushing yards.
If he is signed, “Beast Mode” and the Seahawks take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night in Week 17.
