New Orleans Saints guard Andrus Peat suffered a broken arm on Sunday. In a shocking loss to the (now) 2-7 Atlanta Falcons, Peat left in the second quarter. After going into the medical tent, he left the field with a trainer, not to return.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday that the broken arm would require surgery. This injury is expected to keep him out for at least six weeks.

Peat made the Pro Bowl in 2018, his first and only appearance. Thanks in part to his elite play, the Saints made it all the way to the NFC Championship. New Orleans would go on to lose that infamous game to the Rams.
Behind a solid offensive line, the Saints did not skip a beat after Drew Brees was sidelined due to a thumb injury. They won all five of backup Teddy Bridgewater’s starts, on their way to a 7-2 record through 10 weeks.
Despite a bizarre loss to a bad Falcons team, New Orleans seems poised to make another playoff run. Losing Peat while he was playing at a Pro Bowl level may prove to be a big loss. Will Clapp came in to replace Peat after he went down in Week 10, even though he is listed as a center. That trend will likely continue going into Week 11.
New Orleans continues its season in their second of four straight games against NFC South opponents. They visit the 3-6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, November 17.
