The college football season has just started, but it is never too early to look ahead to the next NFL Draft and what team could be targeting. Here is the 2020 NFL Mock Draft October 17.
1. Miami Dolphins- Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
Miami traded for Josh Rosen, but that doesn’t mean they’ll keep him with how good the quarterbacks in the 2020 NFL Draft are regarded. Tagovailoa plays flawlessly for most games, but has struggled in some big games near the end of last season. A lot of that could be because he played the latter part of the season on a surgically repaired ankle. He is still currently the top quarterback in the class, but he needs to prove it on the field in 2019.
2. Cincinnati Bengals- Joe Burrow, QB, LSU
Burrow has been the biggest riser in this draft class. LSU has a new offense and Burrow has been operating it to near perfection. He had only three incompletions against a solid Florida defense. The Bengals need a quarterback to lead the offense into the future and Zac Taylor may like Burrow if Tagovailoa is off the board.
3. Washington Redskins- Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
Thomas has started for two seasons and has plenty of accolades. Trent Williams is likely on the move soon and the Redskins need to protect their future franchise quarterback, Dwayne Haskins.
4. Atlanta Falcons- Chase Young, Edge, Ohio State
Atlanta doesn’t have a good defense and could use who could be the best player in the draft class. Young is a freak athlete and could help the team out immediately.
5. New York Jets- Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
The Jets need to protect Sam Darnold so he can continue to develop. Wirfs is playing right tackle for Iowa, but is playing well and could be an early first-round pick.
6. Tennessee Titans- Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
Tennessee has benched Marcus Mariota for Ryan Tannehill. They clearly need a new quarterback to lead the franchise. Herbert was a projected top 10 pick if he came out for the 2019 NFL Draft. If he can improve his accuracy, he’ll be a top 10 pick this season.
7. Denver Broncos- Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
The Broncos have good edge rushers, but could stand to get better in the middle of their defense. Had he come out after last season, Brown would’ve been a top 10 pick. He has that potential this season if teams have a need for interior linemen.
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia
Jameis Winston still has the confidence of Bruce Arians for now, but he is turning the ball over at an alarming rate. Fromm will protect the football better and is completing over 70 percent of his passes on the season.
9. New York Giants- Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
Jeudy has shown flashes of being a number one receiver with his ability to get open and cut on a dime. Daniel Jones needs more weapons if he is going to be successful.
10. Los Angeles Chargers- Walker Little, OT, Stanford
Philip Rivers and the offense are having trouble moving the ball and a lot of that has to do with the offensive line. With Russell Okung out with some serious health concerns, they should target a tackle in the upcoming draft. Little is out for the year with a knee injury, but should retain his draft value.
11. Cleveland Browns- Grant Delpit, S, LSU
The Browns secondary could use some improvements, especially at the safety position. Delpit hasn’t played his best this season, but is still the best safety in the draft class.
12. Jacksonville Jaguars- Jeffrey Okudah, CB, Ohio State
Jalen Ramsey has been traded to the Rams. The Jags seem to have their quarterback now in Gardner Minshew, but should replace Ramsey as soon as possible to help the defense.
13. Miami Dolphins (via PIT)- A.J. Epenesa, Edge, Iowa
With the Dolphins tanking, they need help everywhere. Epenesa jumped out on tape when watching some of Iowa’s prospects that were eligible for the 2019 NFL Draft. He was a backup last year and now will get a chance to shine.
14. Arizona Cardinals- Trey Adams, OT, Washington
Adams has had injury issues, but was thought of as a first-round pick at one point in his college career. He’ll have to stay healthy in 2019 to be selected this highly. Arizona needs to protect Kyler Murray.
15. Detroit Lions- Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama
The Lions are playing well, but could still use some upgrades in the secondary. Diggs would’ve been a first-round pick last season, but he got injured.
16. Philadelphia Eagles- Paulson Adebo, CB, Stanford
Philadelphia is getting torched right now and need some more corners. Adebo is a long, talented corner who is rising up draft boards.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars (via LAR)- Albert Okwuegbunam, TE, Missouri
Okwuegbunam was another player who could’ve entered the draft last season, but decided to play one more year of college football. He is an athletic tight end who could be a good target for an NFL team. The Jags need to get more talented players on offense after replacing Ramsey.
18. Dallas Cowboys- Isaiah Simmons, S, Clemson
The Cowboys need safety help and Simmons is one of the best in the class. He could play either safety or linebacker in the pros, but has been playing really well in college.
19. Las Vegas Raiders- CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
Lamb has been putting up great numbers for Oklahoma this season. He is great at running after the catch and looks to be a playmaker in the NFL. The Raiders could use a wide receiver after the Antonio Brown saga.
20. Indianapolis Colts- Raekwon Davis, DE/DT, Alabama
Davis was overshadowed by Quinnen Williams last year, but still is a good player for Alabama. Indianapolis could use some more interior defensive line players.
21. Las Vegas Raiders- Yetur Gross-Matos, Edge, Penn State
Jon Gruden has mentioned how hard it is to find pass rushers, which means he will likely look for one in this year’s draft. Gross-Matos is a good pass rusher, who could even go earlier than this if he plays well the rest of the season.
22. Minnesota Vikings- Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina
South Carolina upset Georgia and Kinlaw’s disruption was a major reason why. Minnesota could use a defensive tackle to go next to Linval Joseph.
23. Carolina Panthers- Solomon Kindley, OG, Georgia
Carolina should improve the interior of their offensive line to help maximize their offense.
24. Miami Dolphins (via Hou)- Henry Ruggs, WR, Alabama
Ruggs is one of the fastest players in all of college football and the Dolphins need to give their young team some weapons.
25. Kansas City Chiefs- C.J. Henderson, CB, Florida
The Chiefs need any defensive help they can get at this point.
26. Baltimore Ravens- Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma
Baltimore needs better inside linebackers and Murray has been all over the field for Oklahoma.
27. Buffalo Bills- Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado
The Bills have a bunch of small wide receivers, but could benefit from a bigger, athletic receiver like Shenault.
28. Seattle Seahawks- Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama
McKinney can help out the backend of Seattle’s defense, which has struggled this year.
29. New Orleans Saints- Tee Higgins, WR, Clemson
New Orleans needs to find a number two receiver for Michael Thomas to really open up the offense.
30. Green Bay Packers- Troy Dye, LB, Oregon
The Packers don’t have too many needs, but could improve their linebacker play next to Blake Martinez.
31. San Francisco 49ers- Jalen Reagor, WR, TCU
John Lynch will want to get a number one receiver at some point to help improve the offense.
32. New England Patriots- Nick Coe, DE/DT, Auburn
Coe is a versatile defensive lineman who could be perfect for the New England defense.
