The NPL Contenders have completed their relegation matches and sealed the fate of those moving up, and those moving down. Now, it’s time for the top teams of the Contenders to take on the bottom teams from the National PUBG League. This is what the Contenders fight for all phase. This is their chance to jump into the spotlight and show just how good they are. There are a lot of ways this could go, so who is most likely to move up this time?
The Bottom Six of the NPL
The bottom six teams from the National PUBG League are Wildcard, PlayerOne, SpaceStation, Lowkey, VanQuish and Zenith. The teams were not able to overcome the upper part of the table, and are really going to have to work to show that they deserve to stay. Wildcard, PlayerOne and SpaceStation are teams that seemed to just be unlucky this time around. They all had decent performances, but failed to produce points when they needed them the most.
Wildcard finished Phase 3 with 280 points on the board. They had a strong final week, and were only seven points shy of being safe. PlayerOne had some pop-up performance that showed they know how to win, but they also had a lot of low scoring games that settled them in 12th place with 269 points. SpaceStation was below them with 232 points. SpaceStation is a consistent side, but they failed to earn points when they needed them and went out early too often.
Who Will Drop?
With their Phase 3 shortcomings aside, those three teams should be safe and not have to worry about leaving the top flight of the NPL. The lowest three teams from the NPL, however, are going to have a much harder time. Lowkey and Zenith really struggled when it came to kills and staying alive. If they can’t figure out a game plan, the Contenders’ top performers will take them down fast. VanQuish is very likely to be sent down after all of this is done. The former Vicious Gaming side has struggled after their rebranding and roster changes. They were showing some signs of life toward the end, but they may need to spend a phase as Contenders to sort things out.
The Top 10 of the Contenders
The top 10 teams from the Contenders are Smokin’ Aces Red, Halocline Gaming, The God Squad, Comets, Oxymoron, Obey Alliance, Elus1ve, Noble, Super Nova and 303 Esports. Out of these 10 teams, three of them have shown they have what it takes to move up to the next level. Smokin’ Aces Red was a dominant force in the Contenders. They know how to earn kills and Chicken Dinners even with the odds stacked against them. They will easily overtake the weaker three from the NPL. The God Squad and Noble had some rough spots along the way, but toward the end they were very impressive sides. If they can keep up their strong forms, they will move up as well with ease. All of these teams have worked so hard to get here, and there is no doubt that they will show their strengths.
The most likely outcome is that Wildcard, PlayerOne and SpaceStation will remain in the NPL, leaving the other three behind. Smokin’ Aces Red, The God Squad and Noble will take the three vacant spots. Anything can happen in the National PUBG League relegation matches.
