The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 20 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. Here are the Madden 20 questionable ratings: Pittsburgh Steelers.
Joe Haden- 84
Haden has been a solid player for the Steelers and last year had 63 total tackles, two interceptions and 12 passes defended. While Haden did play decently enough, he isn’t the same player he once was. Madden still elected to give him an 84 rating.
Xavien Howard of the Miami Dolphins tied for the league lead in interceptions with seven, yet is ranked lower than Haden at an 83. Haden should have his rating lowered a little bit to accurately depict what is going on in the NFL.
Adjusted Rating- 82
James Conner- 83
Without Le’Veon Bell in the picture, Conner took over as the lead back for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played in 13 games and finished with 973 rushing yards, 497 receiving yards and 13 total touchdowns. Had he played a full 16 games, he likely would’ve had nearly 2,000 all-purpose yards. Madden gave him just an 83 heading into this season.
Lamar Miller played in one more game than Conner, but produced less. He had 973 rushing yards, 163 receiving yards and six total touchdowns. Miller was given an 85 rating, which is around where Conner should be ranked.
Adjusted Rating- 85
T.J. Watt- 82
Watt almost doubled his production from his first year in the league to his second. He had seven sacks as a rookie and 13 last season to go along with 12 tackles for loss. Although he produced like one of the best pass rushers in the league, Madden gave him just an 82 rating.
Madden showed their inconsistency with Watt’s rating. Myles Garrett is another second-year player who improved. Garrett had 13.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss, for very similar production to Watt. Garrett though, was given a 91 rating. While Watt maybe doesn’t deserve to be ranked in the 90s, he deserves an improvement in his rating.
Adjusted Rating- 87
Javon Hargrave- 79
Nose tackles usually do their jobs without recognition, but Madden really ignored Hargrave by giving him a 79 in Madden 20. Hargrave finished the 2018 season with 49 total tackles, 6.5 sacks and six tackles for loss, which is good production for a player whose job is to take up blockers.
Rookie Da’Ron Payne had a similar stat line with 56 total tackles, five sacks and six tackles for loss last season. The Redskins interior lineman was given a rating of 83 by Madden. Given Hargrave’s production, he should be rated at least as high.
Adjusted Rating- 83
