Now that the offseason is soon coming to a close and football is returning, it is time to look at the best players in the NFL. Each year The Game Haus puts together a list of the top players in the league for the upcoming season. This list was put together by members of the TGH NFL staff. It starts with the NFL Top 100 Players 2019: 100-91.
100. Melvin Ingram, DE, Los Angeles Chargers
The 2018 season wasn’t Ingram’s best, as he only registered seven sacks, but he still got good pressure on the quarterback with 16 QB hits. He is now 30 years old, but still is a good defensive player who can get after quarterbacks. He and Joey Bosa will be a threat to offenses together for this season.
99. Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers
Newton threw for 3,395 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2018. He added 488 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground. The Panthers were unable to make the playoffs and to make matters worse, Newton injured his shoulder and missed games late in the season. His play may be limited for the 2019 season if he doesn’t fully recover from his injury.
98. Amari Cooper, WR, Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys traded for Cooper after six games and he finished the season strong for the nine games he played for Dallas. In those nine games, Cooper totaled 53 receptions, 725 receiving yards and six touchdowns. With a year of experience under his belt with quarterback Dak Prescott, Cooper could see a huge increase in production for 2019.
97. Lavonte David, LB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
David has been a star linebacker for the Bucs for years now. Last season, David totaled 120 tackles, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. He is a bright spot on an underperforming defense. His partner at linebacker, Kwon Alexander, is now a 49er, so David will have to up his game even more this season.
96. Alex Mack, C, Atlanta Falcons
For several years, Mack has been one of the best centers in the league and last year was no different. He played in 16 games and helped the Falcons rank 10th in scoring and fourth in passing offense. The Falcons didn’t run the ball well last season, but Mack isn’t at fault for that. He is aging, but Mack is still playing at a high level.
95. Tyrann Mathieu, S, Kansas City Chiefs
Although he played just one season for the Texans, Mathieu made a big impact. Mathieu racked up 80 total tackles, eight passes defended and two interceptions as a leader in their secondary. He played a wide variety of positions on the defensive side of the ball last season and will likely add that versatility to the Chiefs this season.
94. Kawann Short, DT, Carolina Panthers
While his sack total has declined, as he only had three last season, Short is still one of the best interior defensive linemen in the game. Short stopped the run well last season with 12 tackles for loss. He will be the anchor of a good Carolina defense again next season.
93. Shaq Mason, OG, New England Patriots
Mason’s blocking helped lead the Patriots to a Super Bowl title. He played in 14 games for New England last season and helped them rank in the top eight for passing, rushing and scoring. His job will get more and more important as Tom Brady continues to age.
92. Ryan Ramczyk, OT, New Orleans Saints
In just his second career year, Ramczyk played really well for the Saints. He started 15 of 16 games and helped New Orleans score the third most points in the NFL last season. Along with Terron Armstead, Ramczyk helps form a great pair of tackles to protect Drew Brees.
91. Deshaun Watson, QB, Houston Texans
Watson had a good second season in the NFL, which resulted in him throwing for 4,165 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also only threw nine interceptions and was able to complete 68.3 percent of his passes. The Texans made the playoffs and will be looking to go deeper into the postseason with Watson at quarterback this season.
