The super major Riptide will commence in Sandusky, Ohio, this weekend at the Kalahari Resort. The event will feature games such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Splatoon and Rivals of Aether. In addition, many big-name players from around the United States are coming to this event, making it the first major LAN tournament that is open to the public. People will be wondering what the Riptide 2021 Schedule is?
Riptide is essentially the replacement event for Smash and Splash, which was plagued with terrible tournament organizing. Nevertheless, the event sold out in four hours and is the biggest tournament since COVID hit. Riptide requires its contenders to follow strict COVID-19 guidelines and have at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Riptide Day 1
The first day is more of a light-hearted day for players to mingle and see some fun exhibition matches. The event kicks things off with Doubles tournaments for Smash Ultimate, Smash Melee and Rivals of Aether with pools for Splatoon to boot.
Riptide Day 2
Day two is when things get serious with singles pools for Ultimate, Melee, Spatoon and Rivals commencing. The day will finish with the top eight qualifiers for both Melee and Ultimate as well as Top 16 and Top 48 for Splatoon and Rivals, respectively.
Riptide Day 3
Day three will hold the top eight brackets for all four tournaments held. Rival will start first at 10 AM EST and Splatoon at 10:30 AM. Melee’s top eight will start at 1 PM and Ultimates finishing the day at 5 PM. With how stacked this tournament is, it will be interesting to see just who will have the honor of playing in the top eight with some of the most elite players within their respective games.
Thoughts
With the unfortunate cancellation of Project M’s tournament due to Nintendo (thanks again, Nintendo), things are still looking up for Riptide. The tournaments are stacked with fantastic players from around the United States. A few notable names, such as Juan “Hungrybox” Debiedma, Justin “Wizzrobe” Hallett and Justin “Plup” McGrath, to name just a few. In comparison, Ultiatme has just about all of its top players in attendance. With Leonardo “MkLeo” Perez, Gavin “Tweek” Dempsy and Edgar “Sparg0” Valdez again, to name a few. Riptide is sure to be one of the biggest tournaments of the year. Unfortunately, many tournaments are canceling due to the resurgence of COVID-19. Nevertheless, it is incredible to see a tournament of this size come to fruition.
