Despite only being available for early access, Starfield broke 200,000 concurrent players on its first day of release. This massive number surprised the community, as the game isn’t technically fully released for everyone.
What’s even more surprising is that Starfield hit 190,000 players within the first hour of early access. The official launch time received significant delays. Many had to unpack the game’s resources and the release time being was ever so slightly off, resulting in many lashing out towards the developers.
Considering these factors, 190,000 concurrent steam players during the first hour of release speaks volumes. This number practically personifies the almost palpable anticipation the community felt when awaiting Starfield’s release.
At its peak, sources state the game hit a little over 230,000 players during the first day of release. This didn’t break any records, with Hogwarts Legacy hitting higher numbers on its debut. But still, it’s immensely impressive, especially since the game’s release was delayed and this is only the early access version.

With the massive amount of players, many await the user reviews for the game — hoping for unbiased critiques of the game’s performance alongside gameplay.
“Good enough number for a Steam User Score so let’s see how the thousands of players will rate the game instead of paid reviews or influencers. Hoping Bethesda did their homework good or the score will tell that immediately,” one Redditor commented.
Of course, only time will tell what the Steam reviews will state — and whether the wait for the game was truly worth the hype.
