Ronald Acuña Jr. and Shohei Ohtani were named as the NL and AL Rookies of the year.
Acuna hit .294 with 26 home runs and 64 RBIs for the Atlanta Braves. Acuña helped the Braves win the division for the time since 2012 and was the first rookie of the year for Atlanta since Craig Kimbrel won the award in 2011. Juan Soto of the Washington Nationals finished second and Walker Buehler of the Los Angeles Dodgers finished third.
Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels also known as the Japanese Babe Ruth, won the award despite not playing the full season due to injuries. As a pitcher, Ohtani went 4-2 with 63 strikeouts and a 3.31 ERA in 10 starts. As a hitter, Ohtani hit .285 with 22 home runs and 67 RBIs in 326 at-bats. He also tallied 10 stolen bases in 14 attempts. The Yankees had to settle second and third for Miguel Andujar and Gleybor Torres.
