Trainers, it’s no surprise that there were plenty of frustrations when facing the Gigantamax Kanto starters. As such, Niantic has taken the feedback of the community into account and changes will go into account starting October 31. This article will cover the Pokémon GO Gigantamax Boss updates.
Updates
With battles with Gigantamax Gengar starting on the 31, Niantic has decided to make some adjustments to make the experience better than it was with G-Max Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. A lot of players found them to be tediously difficult, even with a lobby of 30 players. With that in mind, let’s go over each update.
New Rewards
As a way to increase motivation, Niantic will introduce a reward of 25,000 Stardust for each completed Gigantamax Gengar encounter. Niantic intended for this addition to help players quickly recover the resources they invest into the Dynamax and Gigantamax systems, decreasing the amount of tedium.
This is crucial as players would eat up a lot of resources preparing for the battles and not get anything back if they didn’t succeed. With this update, players could stand to earn at least a whopping 37.5k stardust per successful Gigantamax battle, which could mean huge gains during an event
Catch Rate Increases
Niantic intends to increase the catch rate for Gigantamax Gengar and other bosses after. This is to better reflect the resources players are putting into these battles and the rewards they deserve for completing such a challenging feat. Keep in mind, these are difficult battles that take at least 30 to 40 players to get an optimal advantage.
That takes massive amounts of coordination with a network that not every GO player has access to. And even if they did, to put in that gargantuan amount of work and STILL not get the Pokémon in the end would anger any player. Compare this to Sword and Shield where almost over half the time, if players beat the Pokémon, they got to capture it and it’s obvious why this would be a source of contention.
Needless to say, the previous catch rate didn’t quite align with the intended experience, so this adjustment aims to make the reward more satisfying. Niantic has said that they will continue to monitor catch rates across other Gigantamax encounters to ensure a consistently rewarding experience.
Difficulty Reduction
Lastly, Niantic is making a slight adjustment to the difficulty level of the Gigantamax Gengar encounter. While Niantic intended Gigantamax encounters to be a significant challenge, Niantic wants to ensure that players have a fair chance to defeat Gengar and any future Gigantamax opponent. This is incredibly important depending on the geography of certain players.
Currently, players living in rural communities have it the hardest as they live farther from players in the city and don’t have access to the sheer numbers that would help them. While sites like GO Hub have not gotten into detail on how the reductions will work, it is a welcome change to the battles.
Conclusion
This is all the information on Pokémon GO’s Gigantamax Boss updates. For more details, players can visit GO Hub. There are other things Niantic could do like scaling the bosses to the number of trainers fighting them. However, players can have faith that as they did now, Niantic will continue to incorporate community feedback.
