The Eagles notched their 13th victory over the Chicago Bears this past Sunday. The final score was 25-20. This was not the prettiest victory for the Eagles , but they got the job the done. This article will give a full recap of the Philadelphia Eagles Week 15 game against the Chicago Bears.
The Eagles Offense
The Eagles did not play their best game on offense. Jalen Hurts threw two interceptions, which is unusual for this Eagles team. Hurts had only thrown three interceptions on the season before this game. However, he did bounce back, which is what great quarterbacks do. He threw for over 300 yards and had three rushing touchdowns, which basically won the Eagles the game. Hurts suffered a sprained shoulder, which leaves him questionable for the huge NFC East showdown against the Dallas Cowboys. There were also some questionable aspects of this game for the Eagles. For example, Miles Sanders only had eleven carries for 42 yards. This game may have looked a little different if Sanders had gotten more carries. The Eagles ended the day with only 112 rushing yards on the day, which is a surprising statistic.
As for the receivers, A.J. Brown went off in this game. He had 181 yards and no touchdowns. He caught a couple of long passes that ultimately resulted in points for Philadelphia. Devonta Smith also had a fantastic day. He had 126 yards in this game. He is on his way to having his first 1,000 yard receiving season, which is expected out of the former Heisman Trophy winner.
This Eagle’s team was heavily favored but faced some adversity from an opponent that no one gave a chance to beat the Eagles. However, the Eagles found a way to overcome that adversity and came away with the win.
The Eagles Defense
The Eagle’s defense was stout once again and was a key factor in the Eagles winning. Philadelphia held the Bears to only 248 yards of total offense. Justin Fields did keep this game interesting though. He ran for 95 yards and threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns. David Montgomery also made a statement in this matchup. He ran for 52 yards and one rushing touchdown. He also had 38 yards through the air and had a receiving touchdown. However, the difference in this game was the passing rushing defense of Philadelphia. The Eagles totaled six sacks. Javon Hargrave, Josh Sweat and Hasson Reddick had two sacks each. The leading tacklers were K’von Wallace and T.J. Edwards with nine tackles each. Josh Sweat and Marcus Epps were right behind them with six tackles each.
The Eagles are looking good for home field advantage in the playoffs despite the injury Jalen Hurts suffered. Philadelphia only needs to win one more game to clinch home field advantage. Gardner Minshew is capable of giving the Eagles that one last victory. He has proven in the past that he can produce
