The 2022-23 NFL season has already been extremely entertaining. Bye weeks are starting to take place. This means that quarterbacks like Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts will be out this week. On top of that injuries have started to mount up at this point of the season. It is always a great idea to evaluate backup options so that way fantasy managers are prepared if star players miss time. Here are the fantasy football week 7 quarterback rankings.
*Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to reserve/COVID-19 list*
(Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week)
Key:
Must Start- a player who should definitely be in your lineup that week because of the combination of matchup and talent. They will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and could repeat the production most weeks.
Starter- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.
Low-End Starter- a player who should be started in most lineups but can possibly bottom out and finish below average on a given week. A high ceiling play in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Streamer- a player who could be a perfect replacement for a starter for a week or two. Starting this player may not win you your lineup but they will make sure that your production out of that position will not lose you your matchup either. Also a viable option in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Deep League Streamer- a player who could fill a void at a position in a deeper league. Their ceiling may be close to average point production at the position but their floor is enough to get through the week. A reasonable player to have in your lineup in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Possible Changes that can occur before Sunday
QB5 Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Dak Prescott is set to practice Wednesday after being cleared from his thumb injury earlier this year. If Prescott was to have a setback and not play this week against the Detroit Lions then Cooper Rush would slot in at QB18 between Ryan Tannehill and Kenny Pickett.
QB7 Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
Tua Tagovailoa is expected to return this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers after missing the past two games with both a concussion and ankle injuries. If Tagovailoa was to have a setback and not play this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers Teddy Bridgewater would slot in at QB16 between Jacoby Brissett and Trevor Lawerence.
QB14 Russell Wilson, Denver Broncos
Russell Wilson is now dealing with a hamstring injury after Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. He is considered day-to-day at this point with a chance to miss this week’s game against the New York Jets. If Wilson doesn’t play Brett Rypien will slot in as QB28 under Baker Mayfield.
QB19 Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh Steelers
Kenny Pickett is currently in concussion protocol after last week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If he is not cleared to play against the Miami Dolphins then Mitch Trubisky would slot in at QB23 between Jimmy Garoppolo and Davis Mills.
QB22 Jameis Winston, New Orleans Saints
Jameis Winston has missed the past three games with ankle and back injuries. He was limited in practice on Tuesday. If Winston cannot play, Andy Dalton could play this week if he recovers from his back injury. Dalton would then slot in at QB24 between Davis Mills and Justin Fields. If neither Winston nor Dalton cannot play this Taysom Hill slots in at QB14 between Daniel Jones and Russell Wilson. He also becomes an elite tight end option in leagues where he is tight end eligible.
QB26 Mac Jones, New England Patriots
Mac Jones has missed the past three games with a high ankle sprain. There is a chance Jones returns this week against the Chicago Bears. If Jones cannot return this week then Bailey Zappe will start again for the Patriots. Zappe would rank as QB26 between Justin Fields and Zach Wilson.
QB28 Baker Mayfield, Carolina Panthers
Baker Mayfield is considered week-to-week with his ankle injury. This means he has not been ruled out this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after missing last week’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. If Mayfield is out this week then P.J. Walker will slot in as QB28 this week under Zach Wilson.
