Cristiano Ronaldo was left out of Man United’s squad against Chelsea after exiting early vs. Tottenham.
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has already decided to leave Ronaldo out of the squad for their match this Saturday at Chelsea. The decision came after Ronaldo left the field early in United’s 2-0 win against Tottenham on Wednesday.
Ronaldo left the pitch just minutes before the final whistle at Old Trafford after not entering the game.
This is the second time something of this nature has happened this season.
In a match against La Liga side Rayo Vallecano in the preseason, he left the stadium early after being substituted off at halftime.
The 37-year-old will also be left out of the team’s training sessions through the weekend and is not expected to be back with the squad before Monday.
Ten Hag’s decisions as of late to leave Ronaldo out of the starting 11 have been playstyle related, as Ronaldo simply can not apply the same work rate he was once able to. Still an incredible goal scorer and box lurker, Ten Hag claims the Portuguese International will continue to be “an important part of the squad”.
With that said, United’s manager since April has only selected Ronaldo twice this season to start.
Just a few weeks after scoring his 700th career club goal, eyes will be on Manchester’s Red men until this has been sorted.
United will look to stay unbeaten for a fourth consecutive match at Stamford Bridge on the weekend.
