Six weeks into the college football season has certainly brought a lot of excitement. With the more weeks that go on, more news and notes will be put together. Here are some of the things happening around the sport of college football heading into week 7.
Miami WR Ahmmon Richards to medically retire from football
The Miami Herald reported on Sunday night that Richards is unable to play football anymore due to a neck injury. The injury has forced Richards to sit out ever since week 1.
Richards posted this on his Twitter page on October 6:

The junior has one catch this season, but has over 1,382 receiving yards in his career. He was a projected early round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Mike Stoops let go from Oklahoma
The Sooners have decided to fire defensive coordinator Mike Stoops.

The Sooners have allowed 27.9 points per game, which ranks 79th in the country so far this season. Stoops had two different stints at Oklahoma ranging from 1999-2003 and 2012-2018. Stoops brother, Bob, retired as Oklahoma’s head coach right before last season. Ruffin McNeil will serve as interim defensive coordinator.
Alabama no. 1 corner out for the season
Alabama’s Trevon Diggs suffered a broken foot against Arkansas on Saturday. He will be out four to six months and will not be able to play the rest of the season. The Crimson Tide hasn’t faced anyone yet who could’ve exposed their secondary, but that could come in time, especially with Diggs out. Patrick Surtain Jr. figures to fill in for Diggs for the rest of the season.

Hawai’i gets devious covering up Cole McDonald injury
Cole McDonald was injured and didn’t play in Hawai’i’s game against Wyoming this weekend. The Warriors even went so far to have another player dress up in McDonald’s uniform in pregame warmups.
So is it safe to say that we’ve been bamboozled by a non-dread locked version of Cole McDonald? #HawaiiFB LOL pic.twitter.com/iPY0ExMDc7

There was no update on McDonald’s injury and when he’ll be back, but the Hawai’i coaches didn’t seem to think it would be too long.
