Each week teams will be fighting for position in an effort to make the College Football Playoff. The teams will be ranked each week, but what matters most is who they have played and defeated already on the field. Here is College Football Playoff Bracketology: November 24.
Note: This will be updated following each week of games during the season.
First Round Byes
1. Oregon Ducks (11-0)
Oregon was off this week, but retains the top spot in the rankings as the only undefeated power four team in the country.
This week: vs. Washington Huskies (6-5)
2. Texas Longhorns (10-1)
Texas played Kentucky closer than they would’ve liked, but they won the game. They are still the frontrunners in the SEC with just one loss in conference, which was to Georgia.
This week: at Texas A&M Aggies (8-3)
3. Miami Hurricanes (10-1)
Miami pulled away from Wake Forest to keep the ACC spot for CFP. They will likely play SMU in the ACC Championship if they can win next week.
This week: at Syracuse Orange (8-3)
4. Boise State Broncos (10-1)
Boise snuck away with a win over Wyoming. With Big 12 teams losing, the Broncos should retain the fourth spot in the rankings, despite their shaky performance.
This week: vs. Oregon State Beavers (5-6)
First Four Byes
5. Ohio State Buckeyes (10-1)
Ohio State made easy work of Indiana after some early struggles. Their one loss against Oregon could be avenged in the Big Ten Championship, but their wins over Penn State and Indiana put them at the first at-large spot.
This week: vs. Michigan Wolverines (6-5)
6. Penn State Nittany Lions (10-1)
Penn State had a close game against Minnesota, but came away with the win. They still just have one loss, which was to Ohio State.
This week: vs. Maryland Terrapins (4-7)
7. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (10-1)
Notre Dame dominated a ranked Army team this week. The loss to Northern Illinois hurts, but if Notre Dame beats USC next week, they are in the CFP.
This week: at USC Trojans (6-5)
8. Georgia Bulldogs (9-2)
Georgia didn’t play their best game against UMass, but got a win in a week where a lot of other teams lost. They have had a grueling schedule and have clinched a spot in the SEC Championship Game.
This week: vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (7-4)
Last Four In
9. Tennessee Volunteers (9-2)
Tennessee blew past UTEP in week 13. With other SEC teams losing, the Volunteers look like a good bet to make the CFP if they avoid a disaster in the last week of the regular season.
This week: at Vanderbilt Commodores (6-5)
10. Indiana Hoosiers (10-1)
Indiana suffered their first loss of the season to Ohio State on the road. With a lot of other ranked teams losing, the Hoosiers should sill keep their spot in the CFP, even without the toughest schedule.
This week: vs. Purdue Boilermakers (1-10)
11. SMU Mustangs (10-1)
SMU took care of business against Virginia. If they can win one more game, they will play in the ACC Championship Game in their first year as a member of the conference.
This week: vs. California Golden Bears (6-5)
12. Arizona State Sun Devils (9-2)
Arizona State defeated BYU this week, which sets up a lot of tiebreaker scenarios in the Big 12. The Sun Devils have two losses, both at home and one when starting quarterback Sam Leavitt wasn’t available.
This week: at Arizona Wildcats (4-7)
First Four Out- At Large
Alabama Crimson Tide (8-3)
Alabama lost, but also did not look good against Oklahoma. They are fortunate that so many other teams lost. Because they were ranked highly last week, they likely will slide, but not too much.
This week: vs. Auburn Tigers (5-6)
Ole Miss Rebels (8-3)
Ole Miss lost on the road to Florida to have them on the outside looking in at the first 12-team CFP. The win over Georgia is nice, but that is largely carrying the resume of a team that lost to Kentucky, LSU and Florida.
This week: vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs (2-9)
Clemson Tigers (9-2)
Clemson had their matchup with the Citadel this week and had no issues. They don’t have a marquee win, which keeps them out of the projected field, but could get one with a win over South Carolina.
This week: vs. South Carolina Gamecocks (8-3)
Texas A&M Aggies (8-3)
The Aggies lot in quadruple overtime on the road to Auburn. They need to defeat Texas next week to get to the SEC Championship Game, which is more important now as they have less of a chance to make the CFP as an at-large team.
This week: vs. Texas Longhorns (10-1)
First Four Out- Group of Five
Tulane Green Wave (9-2)
Tulane was off this week, but with Army losing to Notre Dame, the Green Wave move up a spot and could take the group of five spot in the CFP if Boise State loses.
This week: vs. Memphis Tigers (9-2)
UNLV Rebels (9-2)
UNLV beat a tough San Jose State team this week. Their only losses are to Boise State and Syracuse. A win in the last week of the regular season, should put UNLV in the MWC Championship Game with a chance to get revenge on Boise State.
This week: vs. Nevada Wolf Pack (3-9)
Army Black Knights (9-1)
Army lost to Notre Dame by a lot, which moves them down the list. If they win out, it will be hard to make the CFP unless they get a lot of help.
This week: vs. UTSA Roadrunners (6-5)
Colorado State Rams (7-4)
It is virtually impossible for Colorado State to make the CFP after losing to Fresno State. They can still make the MWC Championship with a win in week 14. If both the Rams and UNLV win, the rankings and computers will decide who makes the conference title game.
This week: vs. Utah State Aggies (4-7)
