Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin has been revealed to be out for the remainder of the season. Godwin suffered a torn ACL in Week 15’s loss against the New Orleans Saints. This injury will also keep Godwin on the sideline for the entirety of the playoffs.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday afternoon.
The MRI came back on WR Chris Godwin and its worse than imagined. He’s out for the year with a torn ACL.

In 14 games this season, Godwin has racked up 1,103 yards and five touchdowns. This is his second out of five seasons with over 1,000 yards. This is also his third out of five seasons in which he has not been able to play all 16 games.
This is the last year of Godwin’s contract, as he is set to become a free agent in the 2022 offseason. That puts this injury in the “awful timing” category. It will likely hurt his market value. The original report was an MCL sprain, that likely would have sidelined him for a good bit of time, but it is easy to come back from. Torn ACLs are notoriously difficult to return from for speedy players like Godwin.
