2019 NFL Mock Draft March 12

2. San Francisco 49ers- Quinnen Williams, DE/DT, Alabama

Williams had an impressive combine and has had the biggest rise so far. He went from being virtually unknown to showing he can be one of the most disruptive players in the draft class. San Francisco has used plenty of first round picks on defensive linemen over the last several years. Unfortunately, defensive linemen are the players at the top of this class. They could be a candidate to trade back with a team that wants a quarterback.

3. New York Jets- Josh Allen, Edge, Kentucky

Allen is one of the best pass-rushers in the class, but also has the ability to drop back into coverage. If the Jets don’t get an offensive lineman to help protect Darnold, they should try to find a pass rusher to help their defense progress.

4. Oakland Raiders- Rashan Gary, DE/DT, Michigan

How laughable is it that the Raiders had 13 sacks this season? Four players in the NFL had more sacks than the entire Raiders team. Gary has athleticism, speed and power and could produce more at the NFL level in a scheme that can use his talents.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Devin White, LB, LSU

Kwon Alexander is now gone and the Bucs need a linebacker outside of Lavonte David. White is a player who can do everything on the defensive side of the field. His biggest assets are his speed and physicality.

6. New York Giants- Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

Growing consensus around the league is that Kyler Murray will be the first quarterback selected. Since this mock doesn’t predict trades, Murray is a solid fit for the Giants. He is small in stature, but is a great athlete with solid accuracy.

7. Jacksonville Jaguars- DK Metcalf, WR, Ole Miss

The Jaguars will reportedly bring on Nick Foles to be the quarterback for the 2019 season. With that they won’t be mocked a quarterback in the first round anymore. The team still has a lot of talent, but they need an upgrade at wide receiver. Metcalf is one of the big winners at the combine measuring 6-foot-3 and 228 pounds, while running a 4.33-second 40-yard dash. He doesn’t have great agility, but with his size and speed, could entice teams to draft him early.

8. Detroit Lions- Deandre Baker, CB, Georgia

Baker has been Georgia’s number one corner for two seasons and is a threat to take it back to the house every time he gets the ball in his hands, much like he did against South Carolina. The Lions signed Trey Flowers in free agency, so they may choose to beef up the secondary with their first pick.

9. Buffalo Bills- Ed Oliver, DT, Houston

With Kyle Williams retiring the Bills are thin on the interior of their defensive line. Some have soured on Oliver, but he is still one of the most impressive players in college football. This class has so many good defensive linemen and Ed Oliver may be the best in the class.

10. Denver Broncos- Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama

The Broncos just traded for Joe Flacco and will need to protect him. Williams didn’t play as well as expected this season, but will probably get drafted highly for his solid play over his career.

11. Cincinnati Bengals- Greg Little, OT, Ole Miss

The Bengals have a bad defense and a bad offensive line and need to get both fixed as soon as possible.  Little is possibly the best tackle in the class and just needs to improve his ability to finish plays with power.

12. Green Bay Packers- Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson

Green Bay will want to improve the defensive front seven, as they have addressed the secondary in recent drafts. Wilkins can help improve the interior and also help with the pass rush.

13. Miami Dolphins- Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State

Because this mock draft doesn’t predict trades and the Jaguars have addressed their quarterback need elsewhere, Haskins has fallen here. This will not happen come draft day, as he will go top 10. With Adam Gase fired, there is no guarantee that the new head coach will want to keep Ryan Tannehill. Haskins threw for 50 touchdown passes and completed 70% of his passes, which are unprecedented marks.

14. Atlanta Falcons- Montez Sweat, Edge, Mississippi State

Vic Beasley is a shell of himself and Atlanta needs to get better pass rushers if they want to compete again. Sweat showed a great ability to get to the quarterback in his college career and impressed at the combine with his wide receiver-leve speed.

15.  Washington Redskins- Daniel Jones, QB, Duke

Jones had a solid college career and is a projected first-round pick. Teams will like his size and that he was coached by the great David Cutcliffe. With Alex Smith’s injury, Washington needs a new quarterback. Washington reportedly favors Daniel Jones to other quarterbacks in the draft class.

16. Carolina Panthers- Jawaan Taylor, OT, Florida

The Panthers need to protect Cam Newton as much as possible. They don’t necessarily need a tackle, but can move someone inside if necessary. Taylor has been a player who has climbed up draft boards recently because of his body control.

17. Cleveland Browns- Greedy Williams, CB, LSU

The Browns should get a corner to go across from Denzel Ward. The redshirt sophomore has eight interceptions in his young career and looks like he could even improve in the future if he works on his technique.

18. Minnesota Vikings- Cody Ford, OT/G, Oklahoma

Minnesota needs to improve their offensive line to help out Dalvin Cook and Kirk Cousins. Ford is very athletic and is rising up draft boards.

19. Tennessee Titans- Marquise Brown, WR, Oklahoma

Brown is the fastest wide receiver in this draft class. He has great acceleration and makes great cuts in the open field. Marcus Mariota has to get more weapons to be truly successful.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers- A.J. Brown, WR, Ole Miss

With Antonio Brown not coming back, the Steelers may want to get a few more wide receivers to help Ben Roethlisberger air the ball out. Brown is an athletic wide receiver who can produce if given the opportunity.

21. Seattle Seahawks- Byron Murphy, CB, Washington

Murphy will likely go at the end of round one or early round two as it currently stands. Seattle is far from the “Legion of Boom” defense and needs a boost to their secondary.

22. Baltimore Ravens- Brian Burns, Edge, Florida State

Baltimore’s pass rushers are aging and they need to get a new age of athletes in the door. Burns could fit in nicely as a 3-4 outside linebacker in their scheme, as he is a little light to be a 4-3 defensive end every down.

23. Houston Texans- Jerry Tillery, DE/DT, Notre Dame

Tillery was a great pass rusher for Notre Dame and likely could fit in as a 3-4 defensive end for the Texans. While J.J. Watt has been superb, the rest of the defensive line has not been.

24. Oakland Raiders (via Chi)- Devin Bush, LB, Michigan

Bush is an undersized, yet fast and can cover. Oakland needs to improve on every level of the defense and Bush could function like Derrick Brooks did for Jon Gruden. He ran one of the fastest 40-yard dash times for a linebacker.

25. Philadelphia Eagles- Julian Love, CB, Notre Dame

With how many injuries the Eagles had in the secondary this season, they’ll want to get a solid corner in this draft. Love has great ball skills and could start from day one.

26. Indianapolis Colts- Clelin Ferrell, Edge, Clemson

The Colts have a good offense, but need their defense to improve, as it cost them against the Chiefs in the playoffs. Ferrell can help them get after the quarterback and would be a good value pick.

27. Oakland Raiders (via Dal)- Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson

The Raiders need to add more than just one defensive lineman in the draft. Lawrence provides a huge presence in the middle of the line to eat up blockers.

28. Los Angeles Chargers- Dre’Mont Jones, DT, Ohio State
