Brand new held items are headed to Pokemon Unite. In the mobile MOBA, the held items serve practically like runes in League of Legends, providing essential stats to make up the base of a playable pick. And brand new held items means for more creative build paths alongside potential changes in the future meta.

Though there’s little to no information officially available regarding these new items, ElChicoEevee discovered images of the held items within the data of the Pokemon Unite beta. One appears to look like a ring, while the other looks somewhat like an urn.
ElChicoEevee also found the base stats and descriptions for both of the items. These Pokemon Unite new held items have since been confirmed to officially be joining Pokemon Unite.
Pokemon Unite new held item: Curse Incense
The Curse Incense item description states “the HP recovery effect is weakened for longer when dealing damage to opposing Pokémon with Attack-based basic attacks.”
Its effect differs in strength depending on the tier of the item — separated into three categories.
Tier 1
- When Attack-based damage is dealt to opposing Pokémon, their HP recovery effect is weakened by 20% for a short time.
Tier 2
- When Attack-based damage is dealt to opposing Pokémon, their HP recovery effect is weakened by 25% for a short time.
Tier 3
- When Attack-based damage is dealt to opposing Pokémon, their HP recovery effect is weakened by 30% for a short time.
This seems to be an anti-heal type of weapon, catered to damage carries who like to basic attack. The stats for the item provide Attack — in essence physical attack. It’s difficult to say how much this will change the meta, since Pokemon Unite ranked is a blind pick based game.
In essence, it’s hard to tell if the enemy will even have healing on their team. And since anti-heal is very much a counter-pick oriented stat, it may not see that much play in ranked. But competitive play is a completely different matter.
Pokemon Unite new held item: Curse Bangle
Pokemon Unite Curse Bangle description states “the HP recovery effect is weakened for longer when dealing damage to opposing Pokémon with Attack-based basic attacks.”
This is essentially the special attack version of Curse Incense. And similarly, it’s difficult to say whether this will be meta or not in Pokemon Unite ranked due to the fact that the game is blind pick. Therefore, players don’t really know for sure if the enemy will have a healing support or not, meaning there will be safer held item options to choose from.
Pokemon Unite New Held Item: Release date and price
According to ElChicoEevee, both Pokemon Unite new held items will release on September 9, 2023 at 04:00 UTC. They will cost 2000 Aoes Coins each, or 1250 Tickets.
Keep in mind, this doesn’t include their upgrade costs.
In conclusion
These held items seem to be unique to Pokemon Unite. In essence, unless the author is mistaken, they’ve been made exclusively for the game, rather than having been pulled from an original Pokemon mainline series entry.
Keep in mind these are datamined information. Nothing has been officially revealed or announced, therefore the items may launch in a different state then shown here. But ElChicoEevee is a very reputable and accurate dataminer in the Pokemon Unite community. His accuracy with these leaks is almost perfect, thereby making both Curse Bangle and Incense very likely to join the mobile MOBA.
