The Washington Justice had another two difficult matches this week and their games are not going to get any easier. It’s time again to look at the games that have happened this week and talk about their matchup against Seoul Dynasty next week.
Philadelphia Fusion: 3-2
The Fusion were not an easy opponent and it showed in the gameplay. Although Washington’s gameplay looked noticeably cleaner and improved, the Fusion were still more synergized. Additionally, the star play of Jae-hyeok “Carpe” Lee shone through. Where the Washington looked like they might succeed, Carpe often showed up with incredible plays to win his team the fight.
There is something to be said about being able to take a map off of this top tier team. There was also a lot of impressive tank play from Corey “Corey” Nigra, Joon-hwa “Janus” Song and particularly Hyang-ki “SanSam” Kim.
San Francisco Shock: 3-2
Contrary to the game against the Fusion, Washington seemed defeated against this matchup. Once again, the Shock are an incredibly challenging opponent with a very impressive support lineup and the gameplay of Jay “sinatraa” Won on Zarya.
Overall, although they put up a good fight on the first map, they lost their fire thereafter. It was a challenging match and the Justice lost definitively to the Shock, not even managing to take a map off.
Player of the Week: SanSam
In both matches this week, SanSam really showed up with his D.va gameplay. This was both between peeling for his teammates and re-positioning the enemy team. While it may not be as obvious when spectating the game, D.va is an essential part of the team in GOATs. There is no doubt that a lot of the plays Washington made were set up by team coordination in part by SanSam. On top of that, he ate several enemy ultimates and got some impressive Self-Destructs. Overall, the tank gameplay at the moment seemed to be the best part of Washington’s overall play. Of course, this is ignoring the fact that DPS players have yet to get an opportunity to show their stuff on DPS heroes given the current meta.
Seoul Dynasty: 2-3
In the upcoming week, the Justice go up against the Dynasty. At first glance, the Dynasty seem like a middling team that have not lived up to the expectations. The very high expectations take away from the fact that Seoul still have a stacked roster. They have a top tier main tank in Chan-hyung “Fissure” Baek and Min-hyuk “Michelle” Choi has also displayed some very impressive D.va play.
In order to win over the Dynasty, the Justice will need to clean up and play more consistent. On top of that, they will also need to pick apart Seoul’s play. By making the most out of openings in their lineup and playing bravely and aggressively, the Justice might have a better chance against Seoul in the upcoming week.
Prediction: Seoul 3-1 Washington
Player to Watch: Gi-do “Gido” Moon
Gido was formerly a member of the Seoul Dynasty. This week, it will be interesting to watch his match-up against his former teammate Jehong “ryujehong” Ryu. They will both be playing Zenyatta, an essential member of the GOATs composition, particularly with Discord Orb. Despite the difficult matches the Justice have played, watch to see Gido’s growth and game play against his former teammates in Week 4.
