The Boston Uprising came into 2023 with their sights on greatness. Their star-studded roster had fans excited for the first time in a long time, but many were worried about the leadership in charge. Boston has already relieved Assistant Coach Yeong-hun “Jidset” Ji of his coaching duties earlier this season, leaving only first time Head Coach Dong-soo “Dongsu” Shin to wrangle a lineup of veteran players.
After a disappointing end to their Midseason Madness tournament bid, the Uprising have decided to move on from the rookie coach. On Tuesday June 27, the Boston Uprising announced the release of Dongsu from the team.
Under Coach Dongsu, the Uprising finished fourth in the Spring Stage standings with a 6-2 record. Boston qualified for the Midseason Madness after winning back-to-back matches in the Spring Stage Knockouts. The Uprising’s Midseason Madness run ended after losing in a brutal 0-3 fashion to the Florida Mayhem.

With Dongsu gone, the Uprising needed to fill in the vacancy left at the head coaching spot rather quickly. In fact just a few moments after the announcement of Dongsu’s departure, the Uprising announced his successor.
On Tuesday June 27, the Boston Uprising announced Seung-bo “Mobydik” Sim as the newest HC for the organization. Mobydik most recently coached the Toronto Defiant in the 2022 season, where the team finished with a middling 11-12 record.
Mobydik is now tasked with the difficult job of keeping this roster in line, and ensuring this team reaches their full potential. Fans will get their first look at the Uprising under their new coach when Boston kicks off their Summer Stage July 15.
