Fantasy Overwatch League is back for another year in 2022. Though the old platforms may not be around, players can still find ways to play as the Overwatch League heads into its fifth year. With the league kicking off May 5, it is now the perfect time to start bringing people together and starting a new league. Most players enjoy the standard season-long format, which means that players need to draft their teams soon.
Drafting as a whole can be daunting. There are a lot of players, each with varying degrees of fantasy value. The Game Haus is here for the players, veterans and rookies alike, providing some rankings to aid people in their drafts. Check out the top 15 fantasy DPS players in the OWL.
[2022 Fantasy OWL Tank Rankings: 1-15]
15. Shy, Hangzhou Spark
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
The Hangzhou Spark were a weird team last year. At times the only thing that made sense was Zheng “Shy” Yangjie popping off over and over. The Spark’s roster is once again gigantic, and Shy’s value ranges from excellent to very, very poor on any given day. His high ceiling is what keeps him around, but there is that seed of doubt that other team members could steal playing time.
14. Happy, Washington Justice
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
Jung-woo “Happy” Lee has moved on from Houston, and has teamed up with Gui-un “Decay” Jang in Washington to produce one of the scariest DPS lines in OWL. The Cassidy expert could deal some serious damage in a new location. Happy won’t need to share too much time with Assassin, and should be in charge of all the hit scan heroes Washington.
13. Kevster, Los Angeles Gladiators
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
The once faceless hard carry of LAG is now joined by two new DPS players, but that shouldn’t be any concern for Kevin “Kevster” Persson. He remained the singular constant in the DPS in 2021 as the Glads swapped Chris “Mirror” Trinh and Ji-hyeok “Birdring” Kim in for different comps. Kevster is poised to be a solid fantasy option in 2022.
12. Flora, New York Excelsior
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
There wasn’t a lot of great things coming out of New York last year, but Young-woo “Flora” Lim really proved to be the key cog in every win. Flora now has a solid team around him, which should give him a bit more breathing room to work with and really pop off.
11. Fleta, Shanghai Dragons
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
Just missing out on the top ten is the 2020 OWL MVP. Byung-sun “Fleta” Kim should once again lead the talented Shanghai DPS line to another dominant season
10. FITS, Seoul Dynasty
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
Dong-eon “FITS” Kim is by far one of the best, but quietest, DPS in APAC. Last year he shockingly claimed the 7th spot among DPS players. Seoul added just one additional DPS to their roster, making way for FITS to continue his sneaky fantasy success.
9. Naga, Paris Eternal
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
Nikolai “Naga” Dereli was a bright spot on an otherwise middling Paris team last year. A top ten DPS Last year, Naga is in line to do it again with the introduction to OW2. He has a massive hero pool and all the playing time in the world on a small Eternal roster.
8. Doha, Dallas Fuel
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
Dong-ha “Doha” Kim may have finished right behind Yeong-han “SP9RK1E” Kim in points last year, there is not a great chance he can bring that type of success again in 2022. The Fuel added do more DPS to round out the roster, meaning Doha won’t have to learn to play everything like he did last year.
7. Nero, Atlanta Reign
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
Charlie “Nero” Zwarg is one of the most solid and reliable flex DPS’s in the league. He’s moved once again, and now joins an exciting Atlanta squad with aspirations of greatness. After finishing as the 8th highest scoring DPS in 2021, Nero should match that mark in 2022 no problem.
6. Pelican, Houston Outlaws
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
2021’s Rookie of the year is now an Outlaw, but that shouldn’t stop him from being an excellent pick up for fantasy. Houston’s DPS lineup is a bit wonky to day the least, but Se-hyun “Pelican” Oh is just good enough that it shouldn’t matter. He should be receiving the majority of the play time and providing fantasy rosters plenty of week-winning performances.
5. Yaki, New York Excelsior
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
What’s impressive about Jun-ki “Yaki” Kim is just how good he was on such a turbulent Florida roster last season. The electric flex DPS found a way to remain fantasy relevant even in the worst of times for the Mayhem. Now he aims to bring his talents to New York in search of success.Â
4. Profit, Seoul Dynasty
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
What more do people need to know about Joon-yeong “Profit” Park before welcoming him into their fantasy roster. He’s a 5 year star that’s going to do it again.
3. Leave, Chengdu Hunters
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
Huang “leave” Xin was honored to be named the OWL MVP for 2021, but there was a moment there where fans weren’t sure if he was returning to the Hunters. After that small scare, Leave will be back with Chengdu and there’s plenty of optimism surrounding his chance to repeat last years fantasy performance. Placing 3rd among DPS is fantastic. Now playing only next to Jinmu, Leave will try and make another bid for MVP
2. SP9RK1E, Dallas Fuel
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
Last years top overall scorer is set up so it all over again. Or at the very least, come very close. SP9RK1E has proven to be the best flex DPS in the league, and there are no signs that’ll prove that this will change in 2022. He’s also just a ton of fun to watch, and what better way to cheer for him than to also have him on your fantasy roster.
1. Proper, San Francisco Shock
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
A potential ROTY candidate, Dong-hyun “Proper” Kim is absolutely the real deal. The rookie DPS for the SFS should come into the league guns blazing. It’s highly unlikely that he will split time with Kilo, and the Shock look just as strong as ever. Proper very well could be the number 1 fantasy point scorer in his first year.
Closing Thoughts
Overwatch 2 will be a unique game to monitor in terms of DPS play. There are far less shields, and far more opportunities for hero plays that can change the course of a map. Players will most likely have insane damage numbers, thanks to the massive health pools of tanks. The tricky part for fantasy managers will be making those correct start/sit decisions each and every week. Most teams have multiple DPS players on their roster, and fantasy players can only hope that talent supersedes everything, so that their player can get the most playing time.
