At the kick-off of the Grand Final Playoffs, the league announced the Tank role stars for the 2023. The two-two split between the APAC and NA regions gave a nice spread of tanks that have been effective during this last season of the Overwatch League.
Ham ‘Someone’ Jeongwan
There was no question that Someone was going to get a role star. He has been a leader on and off the screen. He ranked top 10 in all stats for his Ramattra play this season. Easily he is seen as a backbone of the Florida Mayhem.
Kim ‘Mag’ Taesung
Mag showed dominance in APAC through his tank play. His Winston in particularly highlighted how the dive could be effective against so many teams. His top 3 performance in all categories displayed how he was able to balance the damage as well as defense for his team.
Choi ‘Hanbin’ Hanbin
Hanbin really got to shine as the main tank player for the Dallas Fuel this year. The Fuel found their bread and butter with the Junker Queen play. He has been a huge asset in the playoffs in particular, where he has been able to outplay the other tanks to get to the LAN. Hanbin was able to show that the Dallas Fuel keeping him was a good choice for this season of the Overwatch League.
Lee ‘Fearless’ Euiseok
Fearless has shown that he did not peak last season. He not only collected the MVP award in the last Grand Final, but also multiple tank role stars. This will be his third role star award throughout all the seasons that he participated in the Overwatch League. He has been able to change with the metas and keep a consistent outcome.
Tank Role Star
The announcement of the tank role stars was a great way to start off the 2023 Grand Final playoffs. It is exciting to see which players will get the DPS and Support role stars. With all the role stars in the playoffs it will be interesting to see how they all stack up against each other this weekend.
