Dallas Star forward Mats Zuccarello will be out four weeks with an “upper body” injury on his debut against the Chicago Blackhawks.
In his first game, he netted a goal and assists in the 4-3 victory. Late in the second period, he came off the ice after blocking a shot. After the game, Zuccarello told the press that his “upper body” injury is his arm and that it possibly has broken. The Stars announced that he will be examined and that he will miss at least four weeks.
The victory wasn’t good enough news for the Stars, as forward, Jamie Benn, left the game with an “upper body” injury. He will be day-to-day.
Zuccarello,31, was acquired by the Stars on Friday from the New York Rangers. Dallas in exchange gave their second and third round picks. He was the depth forward the Stars needed. Stars general manager, Jim Nill, is expected to make moves before Monday’s 3 p.m. ET trade deadline.
The Stars hold the first Wild Card spot in the West. The Wild Card race is really tight and the Stars have no room for error. More details to come.
