The New Jersey Devils signed free agent center/winger Chris Tierney to a one-year, two-way contract on Friday.
This was officially announced by the team on Twitter.
Tierney, 29, had three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 36 games in the 2022-23 season. He played 26 of those games with the Montreal Canadiens and 13 of those games with the Florida Panthers.
He saw success in the past, as recently as the 2018-19 season. The centerman tallied 48 points in 81 games for the Ottawa Senators in that season.
The Devils’ signing of Chris Tierney merely provides a spot as the 13th forward or AHL depth. If someone like Michael McLeod were to go down, Tierney would be the replacement. This is merely a depth signing for the Devils during one of the slow periods of the offseason.
