The Nashville Predators acquired Brian Boyle from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a 2019 second-round pick.
Boyle, 34, scored 19 points (13 goals, 6 assists) in 47 games this season. Boyle had a limited no trade clause in his contract but he agreed to a move to Nashville. Last season Boyle returned from his diagnosis of chronic myelogenous leukemia and made the 2018 All-Star game. His successful 2017-2018 campaign made him the favorite to win the Bill Masterton Trophy.
Boyle’s addition provides depth, leadership and experience for the Predators. The Predators are making a strong push in the trade deadline in order to become contenders for the Stanley Cup. The Predators won the President Trophy last season but failed to reach the Stanley Cup Final after being eliminated by the Winnipeg Jets in the second-round.
