Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady has officially announced his retirement from the NFL. There was an unofficial announcement by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington after reports were obtained via unnamed sources. Brady himself announced his retirement via his social media on Tuesday morning.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport tweeted out Brady’s announcement via his Twitter account.

After the initial leak, Brady’s father and his agent Don Yee stated that the reports were premature. Tom Brady, Sr. said that only his son knew when he was going to officially retire. Brady himself neither confirmed nor denied the leaks, but said on Monday’s episode of the “Let’s Go!” podcast that he was taking his decision day-to-day.
Brady ends his career with seven Super Bowl championships, three MVPs, most career wins, passing yards and touchdowns, among a litany of other accomplishments. He will assuredly be known as one of the greatest in the history of sport, and accrue a first-ballot Hall of Fame entry.
