The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 19 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. This article will look into the head-scratching Madden 19 ratings for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Kwon Alexander
Kwon Alexander is rated at 80 overall. His man coverage and zone coverage are 70 and 78. This seems kind of low for a player with 6 interceptions and 20 passes defensed over the last three seasons as a linebacker. To make it even more impressive, he has missed eight games and played injured in many others so he may not even have reached full potential yet. He is the 15th ranked middle linebaker in Madden 19 behind yet another rookie in Roquan Smith. Even after making the Pro Bowl last season, Alexander is getting no respect from Madden. This doesn’t look like an 80 overall linebacker.

Jameis Winston
Jameis Winston’s rating of 80 puts him below rookie Baker Mayfield, Dak Prescott, Tyrod Taylor, Nick Foles and even Blake Bortles! Don’t get me wrong, Jameis’ performance was bad last season, but only if you weren’t paying enough attention to see what was really wrong.
In the beginning of the season Winston struggled through an injury when he shouldn’t have been playing because he was clearly affected by it. Then they finally gave him time to heal, and when he came back he was a completely different quarterback. Even then, he was playing better but it’s hard to win games with the NFL’s worst defense and one of the worst offensive lines.
All of this means that Jameis Winston’s rating of 80 overall is incredibly low for a player of his caliber. His deep pass rating of 77 is especially low for a player with such good deep touch passing. Here’s some evidence of that deep accuracy and Winston’s end of season form.
Noah Spence
In his rookie season he flashed serious potential recording 5.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles in limited action. Unfortunately, in 2017 Spence suffered a season ending injury limiting his impact with the team. However, this year he returns in what should be his best season yet in year three. New acquisitions could limit his impact because the Buccaneers signed both Jason Pierre Paul and Vinny Curry as defensive ends for the next season. However, Noah Spence should be the first substitute in when one of the starters needs a rest.
All that aside Madden gave Noah Spence a block shed rating of 67. That is terribly low for someone who got 5.5 sacks in limited action and has such high potential. Vinny Curry and Jason Pierre Paul have significantly higher ratings at 84 and 76 respectively.
Adjusted Ratings
Kwon Alexander: 83
Jameis Winston: 85
Noah Spence: 80
