The Philadelphia Eagles have signed multiple undrafted rookie free agents after the 2022 NFL Draft. One of them includes Nevada quarterback Carson Strong. He was featured in the latest of edition of the Philadelphia Eagles Player Spotlight last week. Part one will include the following players: Kennedy Brooks, Britain Covey and Noah Elliss.
Kennedy Brooks, RB, Oklahoma
Brooks was at Oklahoma for four years but sat out during the 2020 season because of COVID concerns. However, the three years he did play Brooks made the most of it. He is an undersized running back with not the best speed, but he can gain yardage through his patience in finding holes in the line of scrimmage and his vision. Brooks also is a very physical runner. He can shed tackles and he is hard to bring down as he is very strong.
He was undrafted because of his size, and he really is not a very good pass catcher, which is important in the NFL these days with running backs. During his senior season with the Sooners, Brooks racked up over 1,200 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. This made him one of the more productive running backs in college football. Brooks would need a very good training camp to be a part of this Eagles roster in 2022. It is more likely he gets put on the Eagles practice squad.
Britain Covey, WR, Utah
Covey was at Utah for five seasons, as he got an extra year of eligibility because of the shortened COVID season. Covey is a smaller receiver that has a lot of speed and quickness. The Utah receiver can also produce a lot as a punt and a kick returner. Covey started his career in 2015 but left the team to go on a mission for church after that season. He returned in 2018 and he did not miss a beat. He racked up over 600 yards and one touchdown. Utah got to play in the Rose Bowl game that year, but Covey got hurt during that game and tore his ACL. This really put a damper on his 2019 campaign as he barely played at all.
During his 2021 season, Covey had over 500 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He also had over 400 punt return yards and over 300 kick return yards that season. Covey could very well get a roster spot in 2022 with his speed and special teams’ ability.
Noah Elliss, DT, Idaho
Eliss is a big defensive tackle as he is 6’4 and weighs 367 pounds. He played for two years at the University of Idaho and put up some pretty impressive numbers. During his first season in 2019, he played in four games but got injured and could not finish out the rest of the year. He had eleven tackles that season. In 2021, once he got healthy, Elliss put up some impressive numbers. He started three out of the six games in the spring season and racked up 18 tackles and a sack. He put up even more quality numbers in his fall season as he had 46 tackles, one sack, three pass breakups in eight starts. Elliss has the potential to earn a roster spot with his strength and his ability to gobble up offensive players.
