This is the next edition of The Philadelphia Eagles Rundown: Week of May 31-June 6. This series consists of Eagles’ rumors and newsworthy events that happen within the Eagles organization. This could be anything from charitable events that the Eagles are participating in, to player and game analysis once the NFL season begins. Lastly, this series will cover rumors and changes to the Eagles roster. This edition will cover the newest development on Zach Ertz situation and Miles Sanders getting attention after cracking a list. This article will also cover the Eagles newest punter.
The Zach Ertz situation
Things could be heating up with Zach Ertz leaving the team in the very near future. There is the factor involving the salary cap if the Eagles choose to trade him or cut him in the near future. Trading or cutting Ertz before June 1 would cause the Eagles to lose some cap space on the deal. Now that June 1 has come, the Eagles will be able to improve their cap space, which in turn will help the Eagles in the long run. There are a few trade destinations that Ertz could be traded to. One involves Ertz being traded to the Bills, which would make Buffalo even more of a Super Bowl contender going into next season. Another destination would be the Colts. This would have Ertz with his former teammate Carson Wentz. This would behoove the Colts because Wentz and Ertz are already friends and have chemistry. Expect to see a deal done in the near future with the Pro Bowl tight end.
Miles Sanders getting recognition
Sander cracked a list by CBS naming him one of the Top 25 players under the age of 25 in the league. Miles Sanders joins some elite company on this list with players like Lamar Jackson, Saquon Barkley and DK Metcalf on the list. Sanders future is beyond bright for the young running back. He has shown he can produce yards and points over his short career.
Sanders is a strong and speedy back that is elusive to defenses. In his two years in the NFL, Sanders has totaled 1,685 yards and nine touchdowns. Expect Sanders to possibly have a 1,000-yard rushing season in 2021 as he looks to do great things for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Eagles add new punter Arryn Siposs
The Eagles added a new punter in Arryn Siposs recently. This comes after their old punter Cameron Johnston agreed to a three-year deal with the Houston Texans. Siposs played at Auburn during his collegiate career. In his two seasons at Auburn, he averaged around 44 yards a punt. In 2018, he ranked fourth in the SEC in punting yards with 2,746 yards. The new Eagles punter is exactly what the Eagles need in 2021. He is powerful and has the ability to punt the ball a country mile. He can also pen offenses deep in the red zone if he is given the opportunity. The former Auburn punter is young, so it may take him a bit to find his mojo in the league but expect him to be a solid punter for the Eagles.
