The Eagles could trade for D.K. Metcalf
It is no secret that the Eagles are going to need to give DeVonta Smith some help at the wide receiver position during the offseason. Major names have come up recently including Allen Robinson going to Philly. Now there are murmurings that D.K. Metcalf could be another option for this Eagles team. Metcalf, who is currently on the Seattle Seahawks, is known for his big 6-foot-4 frame and his blazing speed. His speed gives him the ability to burn past defenders and convert on big quick-strike plays. Metcalf is a one-time Pro Bowler, as his best season came in 2020, as he had well over 1,000 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns. As for this past season, he totaled 967 yards receiving and a career-high 12 touchdown receptions.
Metcalf is going into the final year of his contract with the Seahawks this season. Seattle may want to get rid of some cap space or look towards the future by maybe gaining a first-round draft pick for Metcalf and another additional player. The Eagles have an advantage owning three first-round draft picks in 2022.
The Eagles 2022 NFL Draft Picks
This is a list of all the draft picks the Eagles will have in the upcoming NFL Draft:
First Round: 15th, 16th and 19th overall picks
Second Round: 51st overall pick
Third Round: 83rd overall pick
Fourth Round: 115th overall pick
Fifth Round:139th, 147th and 151st overall picks
Sixth round: 175th overall pick
Philadelphia has a lot of early-round picks, with three of those being in the first round. Expect the Eagles to focus on strengthening their defense by choosing an edge rusher. The Birds could also pick a receiver with one of those first-round picks, but this may not be needed if the Eagles pick one up in free agency. This also rings true with the quarterback situation. If the Eagles end up trading for Garoppolo, then they may not pick a quarterback up in the early rounds of the draft.
The Eagles could focus on more defensive needs like filling the hole in the secondary. Darius Slay is going to need some help in that area of the field if the Eagles hope to make another run at the playoffs. Either way one puts it, the Eagles are in good shape to make an impact in the offseason whether it is them being involved in a major trade or making a huge splash in the draft.
Philadelphia may play in Mexico in 2022
The Eagles are rumored by several media outlets as potential candidates to play in Mexico during the upcoming NFL season. The Cardinals are already scheduled to play in Mexico. It is now up to the NFL to choose what team will face the Cardinals. This could be between four non-divisional opponents which are the Chiefs, Chargers, Patriots and the Eagles who all have road games in Arizona. It could also be a divisional game. This may not be the best for Arizona as they would lose home-field advantage for a more meaningful game. The Eagles have an 11 percent chance to be selected to play in Mexico . The odds are not high, but it is something to look out for during the offseason.
