NFL Week 16 is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 16 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from Tallysight as of Tuesday morning)
Last Week:Â 10-6
Season: 124-94-4
Thursday Night Football
Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers (-3.5)
The Broncos really struggled with the Colts for a lot of the game before Indianapolis gave the game away. Los Angeles won the first matchup between these teams and should be able to defend their home turf on a short week.
Pick: Chargers
Saturday Games
Houston Texans (-2.5) at Kansas City Chiefs
The Texans are favored in this game because of the injury to Patrick Mahomes. He has a mild ankle sprain. The last time this happened he was able to play through and Andy Reid has mentioned that it is “day to day”. Kansas City has a chance to lockup the no. 1 seed this week, so he could play. Even if he doesn’t Carson Wentz could win the game at home
Pick: Chiefs
Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens (-6.5)
Pittsburgh won the last matchup between these two teams by two points. Even on the road, they should be able to limit the Ravens’ rushing attack and keep the game close.
Pick: Steelers
Sunday Afternoon
Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals (-7)
The Bengals’ offense is on fire, while the defense still has plenty of issues. They should be able to score enough and force Browns’ turnovers to stay in the playoff race after the week.
Pick: Bengals
New York Giants at Atlanta Falcons (-9.5)
New York is a mess and may be starting Tim Boyle at quarterback. Atlanta isn’t playing their best football, but should be able to win and cover at home.
Pick: Falcons
New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills (-14.5)
Josh Allen and the Bills are on a roll the last few weeks. They are utilizing so many different offensive weapons and can score with anyone. The Patriots will not be able to keep up.
Pick: Bills
Detroit Lions (-7) at Chicago Bears
Detroit has suffered a lot of injuries, but still have enough to be a formidable team. Things seemingly keep on getting worse for the Bears, so them competing would take a lot.
Pick: Lions
Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts (-4.5)
Tennessee is turning the ball over too much to be picked on the road. Indianapolis can keep the ball on the ground to win and cover at home.
Pick: Colts
Arizona Cardinals (-4.5) at Carolina Panthers
Carolina was playing better, but then lost to the Cowboys in week 15. They should be able to get things back on track, even if they lose, while the Cardinals have to travel across the country for the game.
Pick: Panthers
Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5) at Washington Commanders
The Eagles have had some drama, but they seem to be the best team in the NFC. Washington has lost momentum from earlier in the season and almost lost last week to a beat-up Saints team.
Pick: Eagles
Los Angeles Rams (-3) at New York Jets
Los Angeles has won games by scoring a lot of points and others limiting the other team. They had extra time to prepare for this game and should be able to win and cover on the road against the Jets.
Pick: Rams
Sunday Evening
Minnesota Vikings (-3) at Seattle Seahawks
Seattle didn’t look good against the Packers. It looks like the Seahawks could have Geno Smith back, but they will likely have issues with the Vikings’ defense.
Pick: Vikings
Jacksonville Jaguars at Las Vegas Raiders (-1.5)
Both these teams are near the bottom of the league. Las Vegas is at home and haven’t won since week 4. They can take advantage of Mac Jones being at quarterback to get the win.
Pick: Raiders
San Francisco 49ers at Miami Dolphins (-1.5)
The Dolphins looked bad last week, but have been playing well the last several weeks. San Francisco had a nice win over the Bears, but they lost four of their last five. Miami can win at home.
Pick: Dolphins
Sunday Night Football
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3.5) at Dallas Cowboys
Dallas notched a win over Carolina, but are pretty banged up. Tampa Bay is leading the NFC South and will want to win to get closer to locking up a playoff berth.
Pick: Buccaneers
Monday Night Football
New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers (-13.5)
The Packers’ defense is playing great and the Saints will be starting Spencer Rattler this week. Green bay can force turnovers and cover a large spread.
Pick: Packers
