The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 20 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. Here are the Madden 20 questionable ratings: Chicago Bears.
Trey Burton- 87
Burton had a solid first season with the Bears, as he caught 54 passes for 569 yards and six touchdowns. It was his first season as a top tight end on an offense and he played well. Even though he played well, he didn’t play well enough to deserve an 87 rating in Madden 20.
There are a few tight ends who are ranked lower than Burton, but produced more. Vance McDonald of the Pittsburgh Steelers is rated as an 83 and had 50 catches for 610 yards and four touchdowns. While McDonald had a more seasoned quarterback to work with, the two players shouldn’t be rated four points apart.
Adjusted Rating- 83
Akiem Hicks- 87
The Bears have gotten good work out of Hicks the last three seasons, but he made his first Pro Bowl last year. He had 7.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss, which is great for a 3-4 defensive end. Madden gave him a considerably low rating given his play last year.
Mike Daniels, a defensive end for the Packers, had two sacks and one tackle for loss in 10 games, but Madden also gave him an 87 rating. Hicks had a way better season than Daniels and deserves to be given a few points to make up for that fact.
Adjusted Rating- 90
Roquan Smith- 81
The Bears used a first-round selection on Smith in the 2018 NFL Draft and it turned out to be a great pick. Smith racked up 121 total tackles as a rookie, making him a very intriguing young player. Madden rated him as the 13th best middle linebacker in the game.
Smith played better than some players ranked higher than him by Madden. Myles Jack had 107 total tackles for the Jacksonville Jaguars and also had fewer sacks than Smith. Jack is an 83 in Madden 20 and Smith deserves to be rated a little higher than that.
Adjusted Rating- 84
Danny Trevathan- 80
Trevathan has been a key player on Chicago’s defense for three seasons and last year was his best yet. He had 102 total tackles, two sacks and two interceptions. He was rated at an 80 for Madden 20, which is just a little too low.
Bernardrick McKinney of the Texans had very similar stats to Trevathan. McKinney had 105 total tackles, 1.5 sacks and one interception. McKinney was given a rating of 83, which is where Trevathan should be rated as well in order to ensure consistency.
Adjusted Rating- 83
