Saints linebacker Kiko Alonso tore his ACL in Sunday’s Wild Card loss to the Vikings. This is his third ACL injury since 2014.
The NFL’s Tom Pelissero broke the news on Monday morning.
#Saints LB Kiko Alonso suffered a torn ACL in yesterday’s loss to the #Vikings, sources tell me and @RapSheet. That’s three ACL injuries for Alonso, who knows the process well. Should be ready to start next season.

Alonso spent his entire 2019 campaign with the Saints after being traded from the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins made the move during their dumping of salary and talented players to continue their rebuild.
This is the second ACL tear Alonso has suffered (the third injury was a sprain). He left the Wild Card matchup in the second half of the game, not to return. Based on the timing of the injury, he should be able to return at the beginning of next season.
He played in 13 games with the Saints, starting in four. His stats were not impressive this year, only collecting 31 tackles and one pass defended. He had no sacks and no interceptions.
New Orleans was just bounced from the playoffs after a third straight loss on the final play of a playoff game. Alonso and the Saints will try and return to the postseason again next year.
