The New England Patriots’ woes at the wide receiver position continue after losing a veteran during Sunday’s game. Kendrick Bourne is officially out for the rest of the 2022-2023 season with a torn ACL. He left early in the fourth quarter on Sunday, not to return.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Bourne is one of the undrafted success stories of the recent NFL, as he joined the 49ers as an UDFA in April of 2017. He played with the Niners for four years before signing a three-year, $15 million contract with the Patriots.
In eight games this season (five starts), Bourne has arguably been the WR1 for the Patriots, as he’s been targeted 55 times, hauling in 37 receptions. He has 406 yards and four touchdowns in those four games, which almost ties his career high in scores (five in 2019 and 2021).
