Houston Texans safety and former 2022 second round pick Jalen Pitre was hospitalized after Week 1’s game. After taking a knee in the chest from Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Pitre suffered a bruised lung. He was released from the hospital the following day.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.
Pitre was taken by the Houston Texans with the 37th overall selection in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was selected as a member of the Pro Football Writers’ Association All-Rookie Team last season.
In 17 games last year, Pitre grabbed five interceptions, one sack and 147 combined tackles. 99 of those tackles were solo. The only stats he recorded during Week 1’s loss versus the Ravens were two solo tackles.
