Atlanta Falcons fullback Keith Smith is returning for a fifth year with the Falcons and a tenth overall season. His new deal is for only one year, for a yet undisclosed amount of money. He has been with the Falcons since 2019.
PFF’s Ari Meirov reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Smith went undrafted, like many fullbacks, in the 2014 NFL Draft. In college, he was a linebacker, even becoming the leading tackler in the FBS during his last year in school. During his first years in the NFL, he was moved around from the linebacker room to the safety room, finally finding a role as a fullback.
In 2022, Smith played in all 17 games, starting just six due to personnel packages. He has yet to score an NFL touchdown, but did catch the ball once and rush the ball once last season. Smith had a total of 10 all-purpose yards in 2022.
