Former Jets defensive lineman Nathan Shepherd will have a new uniform for the 2022-2023 season. The Canadian-born lineman is signing a new contract with the New Orleans Saints, reportedly worth $14 million over the next three years.
ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.
Shepherd was a third round pick (72nd overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Jets. He’s played with them for his entire career, signing a four-year, $3.87 million contract just after his signing, followed by a one-year extension in March of 2022.
He played in all 17 games last season, starting three of them. He had just 1.5 sacks in 2022, which is an uptick from his zero sacks in 2021. Shepherd did have a career high in tackles last year, with 33 and has played every game in the past two seasons.
